Was catching up on Portlandia, and in one of the episodes, Fred plays a character who wants to direct a ground-breaking documentary on the Beatles that ends up sounding like every other documentary on the Beatles (“four mop tops from Liverpool change the world”). But then he finds out that buying the rights to the music will cost him a billion dollars.

Check out my fan video for Paul's song "Appreciate" at Vimeo or YouTube.

This clip from Portlandia reminds me of the “hipster” part of Asheville, N.C. that I think is ridiculous and fake…

I recently had a Beatly (the American spelling drops the 2nd e lol) moment when I realized that

Every Beatles album I listen to turns out to be a greatest hits album

So I walked into a butcher shop (that has its own Beatley connotation) and Silly Love Songs was playing! Just like my last Beatley moment post! I think I walked in at the same point in the song both times too, and of course like last time, I had to sing it.
Deja vu/Beatley moment!

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

Can buy Joe love!

Why is no one posting…

Anyway, I was watching Bullet In A Bible (Green Day’s excellent concert film), and Tre Cool (Green Day’s drummer), pretended to be Ringo, and used basically the worst fake accent ever. This was even worse than Paul’s American accenta-hard-days-night-george-10

We went out for a brunch on Easter and we went to some restaurant. I could hear there was music on, but couldn’t really hear anything, until She loves you came on. That was the only song I could make out.

And I just thought of this: It’s my birthday today, but it’s also a friend of mine’s birthday. So singing Birthday to him actually makes sense ”They say it’s your birthday, well it’s my birthday too yeah”

I got this Beatley cartoon from a facebook share – it’s a “where’s waldo” of beatles songs – at least 43 of them, to give you guys a target to aim for (the comments below list what songs people have found).  It’s a link to a picture on facebook.  It’s pretty cool, but if I linger too long I go until my eyes pop out of my head hours later a-hard-days-night-george-10

Was at the Brighton and Hove Albion match and they play the coda of Hey Jude with the Hey Jude words changed to “Brighton”.

Here’s another one, bigger (100 songs).  I submitted both to the “Beatles pics” topic so they should be up on the pics board soon.

BTW, if you right click and ‘save as’ to your computer, it zooms in clearly which makes them easier to look at, especially for us older fans!

Just watched an episode of Awkward. This guy wrote a song for his girlfriend but she didn’t really want to listen to it so she said ”I’ll get to it”. The guy then said: ”Really? Is that what Yoko said to Lennon? I’ll get to it?”

There was also a bit of a girl who got a promise ring with something I couldn’t make out and helter skelter engraved in it.

I was in religion class daydreaming and the teacher was talking about relationships before she said “no one is perfect”, my friend (who sits next to me replied) “She obviously hasn’t seen George Harrison !”.

She got a high-five.

I have taught her well a-hard-days-night-john-1

A radio station played Hey Jude

Look DJ’s, its a seven minute song, everyone knows its a seven minute song, it was a seven minute song when it was released and it continues to be a seven minute song* so either give the song seven minutes or dont play the thing at all if you don’t have a seven minute slot. Sticking it on for 3 1/2 minutes before fading it out it is not on and pisses me off.blue-meanieblue-meanie

*I am aware that edits of Hey Jude have been issued since 1968 but they were never officially official despite being on Beatles compilations.
