Wogblog reports that that three separate lots of reel to reel tapes, all from the 16th October 1964, are to be auctioned on Friday (20th June) at Christie’s. The first reel-to-reel is the previously unheard concert at the A.B.C. Theatre, Hull, the second featuring Paul playing the piano during a press conference with John, Ringo and George joining in on vocals, the third a previously unheard interview with John. Far more details in the link.

Following up on the above posted back on the 19th June 2014, Wogblog reports that the two concert reel to reels from it are going into a Tracks auction this time having previously failed to meet its reserve price at Christie’s. The estimate is £2k – £4k, loud screaming is described as being audible throughout the show and whoever does buy it doesn’t get the copyright:. The set list is

1. Twist And Shout

2. Money (That’s What I Want)

3. Can’t Buy Me Love

4. Things We Said Today

5. I’m Happy Just To Dance With You

6. I Should Have Known Better

7. If I Fell

8. I Wanna Be Your Man

9. A Hard Day’s Night

10. Long Tall Sally

I love the end of The Guardian‘s article on the above auction:

The album cover has inspired countless imitations and also helped to fuel a bizarre conspiracy theory that Paul McCartney was in fact dead and had been replaced by a body double.

There were secret messages in the cover, the theorists said – such as it having the air of a funeral procession and Paul was holding his cigarette in his right (wrong) hand.

The story is thought to be untrue.

Nothing like hedging your bets about the state of Paul’s health!

* Posted at Beatlefan:

A release from Heritage Auctions …

Three Reslo microphones, along with their stands, that were used by The Beatles – along with a host of important early British rock n’ roll acts – at the famed Cavern Club in Liverpool will form the centerpiece of an exceptional grouping of Beatles and Beatles-related memorabilia in Heritage Auctions’ Dec. 6 Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Auction. The microphones are estimated at $5,000+ each and will be offered individually.

Article on the TracksAuction.com auction coming up on a lot owned by a nurse in a hospital:

She helped look after Lennon, Yoko Ono and their respective offspring, Julian Lennon and Kyoko Ono Cox, when they were taken to the Golspie hospital following a car crash in Tongue in July that year.

The nurse persuaded all four family members to sign her autograph book. She also acquired a telegram sent to Lennon by his agent which he left behind at the hospital.

From The Examiner:

A script for a film proposed for The Beatles but not made and autographed by the group is to be sold by Heritage Auctions Dec. 6, the auction house announced Nov. 18. The script, also signed by Walter Shenson, producer of “A Hard Day’s Night ,” was originally supposed to be the third film in a three-picture deal with United Artists that also resulted in the making of “Help !,” the Beatles’ second film, and later “Let It Be .”

According to the auction house, British writer and actor Owen Holder was commissioned to develop the story for the film. It originally had no specific title, only a generic one, “The Beatles’ Script,” but later became known as “Shades of Personality.”

From the Liverpool Echo:

An artwork by John Lennon depicting himself as Christ is going up for auction.

‘The Shroud of Tourin’ was created in the autumn of 1966 after Lennon commented that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

The piece is estimated to be sold for £75,000 at auction house CooperOwen.
