The news of the re-issue has gotten me to pull out the “McCartney Years” DVD collection (2005?) which includes the Wings Over America / Rockshow concert.

Great, great, concert, and great to listen to it again through solid speakers. (The bass is fabulous, as you might expect.) Even songs I don’t care for (Rockshow, Listen to What the Man Said, Jet …) sound terrific, and McCartney himself is a sight to behold.

I don’t know how much better the re-issue will be; I’m guessing it’ll include the entire concert

According to Amazon, it is the complete concert – looking forward to getting this in June!! It is also remixed in 5.1 surround – woo-hoo!!paul-mccartney

Yeah, I’m looking forward to this!

I believe a certain Beatlesbibler (Funny Paper, if memory serves) was an actual attendee at the Seattle concert where much of it was filmed!

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

This is a release I am REALLY looking forward to. I’ve been listening to Wings like crazy the last several weeks and they were a damn good band! This album and movie are killer but I am excited for the remastered treatment.

There’s one close to me, in Concord, on June 8. I’d love to go, just not alone but can’t think of any of my friends who live close enough who’d wanna go…a-hard-days-night-paul-7

It’s odd how most of us have trouble finding similarly hardcore Beatle fans in our areas, isn’t it? You know they’re out there, but they’re hard to find.

I know two, and I watched the Magical Mystery Tour DVD with one, and the other was going to see James McCartney with me, but she had a personal emergency. I might be able to get someone to see Rockshow with me, but I’ll go regardless.

Agreed, I have a lot of friends who really like the Beatles, but none who are as obsessed as I am…certainly none who would go see a Wings film at a theatre

I thought about going to the cinema to see it but i’ll probably skip it as its in a pain of a place to get to and get home from.

Wings Over The World is on BBC4 on Sunday 12th May at 9pm, no doubt it will be on the bbc iplayer soon after.

I’ll have to check it out, then…I’ve got a program that allows me to view things on the iPlayer and I’ve always wanted to see that special.

I’ll sky+ it and add it to my collection of Beatle shows taped off the tv and stored on the box. So far i have ‘Imagine … Lennon: The New York Years’, ‘The Beatles: Their First US Visit’, ‘George Harrison : Living In The Material World ‘, and ‘Arena: The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour ‘ which consists of a documentary on the TV Special and the full film. Those are the ones ive kept.a-hard-days-night-john-1

It’s going to be shown at the Odeon cinema in Limerick about 2 hours away from me :( So there’s no way I can go but I would love to see it on the big screen!
Edit: That and if I went to Limerick, I’d probably get stabbed :P

Here’s “Blackbird “.  I haven’t listened to the album in years, but I certainly don’t remember it sounding this clean.  As much as I’m usually not a huge fan of live albums, this might be too good to pass up.

E is for 'Ergent'.

I just listened to the old version on CD and it sounded good, not great. But everything I’ve heard from the new version is that it sounds tremendous. (I am of course speaking solely about the sound quality…the performance was shit-hot on that album!)

In case anyone is interested, here’s Rockshow (not the new version but the old one…still, it’s a great view):

Sounds amazing, just beautiful. Its always a delight to listen to Paul singing Blackbird or anything on acoustic solo.

It’s playing about 30-40 minutes from here, but I wouldn’t make it before it started, and I’d get home late and have a very late dinner.

I went to see it last night, and it was a remarkable experience.

As seen in the above postings, you can catch it on Youtube, but the quality isn’t great.

Seeing it in a movie theater with the “Surround Sound” and quality imaging is very satisfying.

McCartney’s bass lines really jump out.

Two songs I could have done without are “Spirits of Ancient Egypt” and Paul Simon’s “Richard Cory”

(What? How can you say that? “Spirits of Ancient Egypt” is awesome, etc… ).

I look forward to a similar movie experience with the Flowers In The Dirt tour.

Rockshow isn’t coming anywhere near me.  So disappointed.  paul-mccartney
