RAM is definitely my favorite of Paul's albums. There isn't one song on RAM that I don't love. I got the deluxe set on Tuesday, and it's pretty amazing. I stopped listening to the album for a while so when I got it it would be all that much greater, and it was.

Tug of War is my next favorite Paul album, and it actually might even be better than RAM, although I am not quite sure on that one. There is not one song I do not absolutely love on this one, either. The songs are all just so happy ...

-Chaos and Creation at the top. I echo Paulsbass's assessment (lot of "s"s here).

-Flaming Pie, Band on the Run, Flowers, Wings at the S of S

-Ram, McCartney I,Tug of War, Venus and Mars, London Town are a little more uneven

-Off the Ground, McCartney II, Back to the Egg, Press to Play, Memory Almost full, Electric Arguments even more uneven (with really good stuff on all of them)

-Pipes of Peace, Red Rose S, a couple of solid songs

(If it's my favorite, then it's my pick for best. I see no difference between the two.). Great songs, all of 'em. Smile Away is the best of the bunch and Monkberry. Two very odd McCartney songs. But, odd was what he did best. Saw him live in 2010 and he did Ram On by request. Made my night! And the Thrillington album just adds to it's allure. The delux box set is the tits!

Wild Life - unpolished edges and underwritten in places but the songs themselves are fabulous (omitting bip bop, mumbo is just noise but still good to listen to). Dear Friend is a gem with Paul reaching out to John. Other highlights well the others - I Am Your Singer is a gorgeous duet with Linda that doesnt outstay its welcome by 1 second.

Wings At The Speed Of Sound - the whole is far greater than the parts.

Macca 2. The different types of music make this a true highlight in Pauls catalogue, underrated by the critics but the fans know ...

I certainly wouldn't call Speedway and McCartney II the best in any way, they're personal favorites. If I were to do a top three which I'd consider to be best, I'd go with Ram, Band on the Run and Tug of War (possibly Chaos and Creation replacing Tug of War).

Best:

Band on the run must be in the best top 3, but it's far from being my favourite.

Chaos and creation in the backyard

Tug of war

I think. But Flowers in the dirt or Flaming pie or Memory almost full or Ram are way up there as well.

McCartney II. Yes, I know. I've seen this record dragged through the dirt countless times, but I love it. Paul at his most utterly eccentric and whacked-out, alone in the studio and doing whatever he wants for the second time. Also very ahead of its time in terms of blending influences- disco, electronic music and synth-pop, with acoustic ballads, hints of reggae, glammy plastic funk in the style of Sparks or Talking Heads? Arguably nobody but Macca could have pulled this off. "Darkroom" I could take or leave but the rest of it is glorious, particularly the ...
