I do like Lazy Dynamite and Power Cut a lot (the vocals and playing are really catchy), if they were available as separate songs they would be up there as great Paul songs. Cant stand Hold Me Tight as it goes nowhere yet lasts what seems a decade and the lyrics are awful, truly dreadful. Hands of Love gets annoying quickly especially that awful vocalised solo. Its a shame as with some thought it could have been a good ending to the album butI dont listen to Red Rose Speedway often anyway. there are some good songs but overall its ...

It is extremely sickly, but the harmonies, general feel and production do pull it through for me, and it's worth waiting for the moment when all the themes come together with Paul's roars of "baby I love you!" at the end of Power Cut. Quite fond of the bouncy Hands of Love too- it's the first two sections, sadly, which make it more tedious than it needs to be.

Even the weakest link, Lazy Dynamite, has some great singing by Paul, and the chord transition to Hands of Love is so cool. The "circle of fifths" chord structure with its offbeat variant of Hold Me Tight is a pleasure to listen to. I could go on trying to articulate why I like the medley, but it seems silly, like trying to explain in scientific, psychological and philosophical detail why I like coconut ice cream.

It seems that some people have to find some kind of "greatness" or "depth" in a song to esteem it, and they forget ...

Oh, that medley..."Hold Me Tight" really ruins it for me - "Power Cut" is all right, but by the time it rolls around, it's too late for me to get any enjoyment out of it. I really wonder if the double album Paul had originally planned wouldn't have worked out better.

Also, I've gotta say that "Red Rose Speedway" has one of the stupidest album covers I've ever seen! Especially compared with "Wild Life"'s lovely pastoralism. (But that's just my personal taste; I love the similar covers of John and Yoko's POB albums as well.)

The four-song eleven-minute medley at the end of Red Rose Speedway is a divisive piece- I've heard it slated into the ground for being boring, overlong, repetitive and saccharine, as well as woefully inadequate compared to the Abbey Road medley, but I rather enjoy sections of it and it is relentlessly melodic; I often get the entire suite stuck in my head. "Hold Me Tight" is fairly agonising, though; not only did Paul apparently forget he'd written a song with the exact same title ten years prior, but could he REALLY not have replaced the lyrics with something a little ...
