OfflineThese four songs just seem like they were meant to be McCartney creations -- perhaps in a parallel universe:
Alone Again (Naturally), by Gilbert O'Sullivan
My Life, by Billy Joel
Reminiscing, by Little River Band
No Matter What You Do, by Badfinger
That last one would also have benefitted from John singing harmony along with Paul
(and speaking of Badfinger, their song "Day after Day" would have been an excellent George Harrison)

OfflineGood thread. I often think that when hearing this or that song.
I agree with all of the above. All VERY McCartney-esque. (When "Alone Again" came out I thought it was McCartney.)
Right now I can only think of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life"
and Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home Again"

OfflineBon Jovi's "It's My Life" could certainly be done by Paul (and Paul would improve it, frankly), but it doesn't strike me as a particularly Pauline song per se. It's more like one of those throw-away tracks Paul would put on one of his weaker 1990s albums.
I never cared much for Bon Jovi -- he's like all attitude and isn't this cool biting-your-lower-lip rock-and-fucking-roll dude! -- but the music just isn't that great. His songs are like a guy who would rather make his point with a gun or constantly using f-bombs, rather than some more artful way.

OnlineOh man, I've always despised Bon Jovi and I don't even have any particular hatred for '80s hair metal at all! I especially hate the way he used to constantly play up the New Jersey angle just to sponge off a little second-hand Springsteen critical-worship. Plus that stupid smirking mug of his. Grr…
Anyway, "Don't Ask Me Why" by Billy Joel (yeah him again) always sounded McCartneyesque to me. And there's definitely more where that came from elsewhere in the BJ catalog. (Er, that's "Billy Joel", not "Bon Jovi", obviously…)

OfflineHave always hated, no despised the music that Bon Jovi have put out in their history, just the thought of them makes me want to hurl. I hate 80's rock, especially phoney rock like what they put out.

OfflineThe thing about Day After Day.. George produced it and played the solo with either Pete or Joey. So it would sound like one of his songs. As for the question at hand.. Dennis by Badfinger.
It's moreso that I would have liked to hear Paul perform it; I really enjoy Badfinger's version as it is.
