        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>Hey, thanks for that. I&#39;d heard about the award but didn&#39;t really register the significance of it. It&#39;s hardly been reported here in the UK.</p>
<p>I think the award was for more than just his work with The Beatles, although in honesty it&#39;s hard to imagine he&#39;d have had the award without it. I don&#39;t know about the rules for awarding it, but I don&#39;t suppose they give it posthumously - aren&#39;t recipients supposed to donate something and perform at a ceremony? It&#39;d be interesting to see how that could be done for Lennon <img title="Surprised" src="/wp/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-surprised.gif" alt="Surprised" /></p>

<p>Paul has been awarded the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. He is only the third recipient, and the first non-US awardee.</p>
</p>
<p>So, what do you think? Should it have been a Lennon/McCartney award? Should they give it to John next year? Should they wait until Yoko is not available to accept, <em>then </em>give one to John?</p>
