Another way to find new music is to listen to your friends ipod/mp3 player/phone. Theres a good chance you'll find something on there.

I will happily admit that im more likely to listen to and purchase individual songs than whole albums. Outside a certain handful of artists/bands i hear the first 4 songs on an album and then begin to get seriously bored. Plus there are free apps which can identify most songs you hear on the radio or wherever so you not only find out who's singing it and investigate a bit more. All this means its easier than ever to find 'new' music at little to no cost.
