What are his pet peeves? (Besides fur coats and cheeseburgers). Just wonderin’…….

I got to thinking about this again reading all the posts over on the pet peeves thread.

Have you and Nancy figured out each other’s pet peeves? Do you each avoid them at all costs? or are you the kind of couple that likes to push each other’s buttons to see just how strong your love really is?

Or maybe become a chauffeur. I will kidnap Paul for The Beatles Bible Board!

… but I respect Nancy a hell of a lot more then the one legged pirate he was with.
I’m 23 (24 in a few months). Yeah its a bit strange I like someone older than my dad, but I do find him cute when he was younger. I mean he is still handsome for an old fellow.

Heaven help the man if you did bring him to us.

The pirate comment goes quite well with it being talk-like-a-pirate day. Well played, sky090909.

We understand how you feel about his looks. You are safe with us on this thread. Paul isn’t, but you are.

heartapple01 Thanks a-hard-days-night-george-10

That could be a question. Show him the website and see how he feels about it. lol a-hard-days-night-george-10He would probably have restraining orders against us. ahdn_paul_02Or maybe he would get a good laugh.

Speaking of New Orleans…I’m pretty sure it was New Orleans, earlier this year…Paul & Nancy (I am suspecting he had had a few “adult beverages” at this point) decided it would be great fun to ride on a cable car or trolley of some sort. So they did. Nobody recognized him at first. Then, he started singing Beatles songs and the other passengers realized it was Paul McCartney on the trolley! If that wasn’t a true story, that would be right up there as one of my Paul McCartney fantasies! Can you imagine. I’d have to take my pulse to be sure I hadn’t died and gone to heaven if that happened to me.

I thought it was so funny that Paul would call attention to himself, and your adult beverages theory makes sense.

I admit, I kept wondering if he’d show up on a cable car in San Francisco last month, lol.

The alcohol bit is funny, but no Paul & Nancy decided to ride a streetcar, as it is called in NOLA, and he started singing Beatles hits. In New Orleans there are a lot of street vendors and entertainers (some you have to be careful of) and streetcars are some of the best ways to travel in New Orleans; furthermore, this was Superbowl Weekend! Superbowl weekend & day is huge! Here is an article: http://www.nola.com/music/inde…..t_a_t.html

Also to throw in a twist, he left from an airport outside of New Orleans. Not the main NOLA airport (which is technically outside of city limits) or their secondary airport. He left at Stennis Space Center’s airport, which is on the Louisiana boarder (in Mississippi) & down the road from me.  http://www.wlox.com/story/2096…..bowl-guest

And I knew nothing about about this until the publications of it on facebook & the news! paul-mccartney

Except, that article is the story of how the actual event was misreported. Paul wasn’t “calling attention to himself” (though who knows whether he was tipsy or not).

Relevant portion, bolds mine:

The story, besides going viral on Facebook, has been picked up by dozens of blogs and websites, including MSN Music and the UK’s Daily Mirror. Most of the posts misidentify Retz as Robert Senft, and quote a version of his original Facebook post joking that “this guy got on the streetcar, and started singing Beatles songs to my friend Evelyn. Turns out it was Paul McCartney .”

“I was completely misquoted,” he laughed. “You’re the first person to actually talk to me.”

The NME reported that streetcar passengers “ignored” McCartney after the star “burst into a medley of some of the Beatles’ biggest hits.” That is not exactly what happened, Retz said.

After Retz and Trahan’s group boarded the streetcar, he said, Trahan sat next to McCartney, and started singing “I Want To Hold Your Hand .” The former Beatle joined in for a few bars, and posed for pictures.

“He leaned over and put his cheek on her cheek,” for a photo, Retz said, “but her sister was so nervous she turned the camera off instead of taking the picture.”

Retz and Trahan’s group hopped off the streetcar after a few blocks.

“We kind of felt like we were imposing,” he said.

After getting home, Trahan emailed the photo to half a dozen friends. Retz uploaded it to Facebook, and soon after, the chain reaction started. Trahan called him, mystified, when she began receiving phone calls and emails from friends she hadn’t spoken to in years, asking about her ride with the star.

“’She said, I’m going to have stalkers!’” Retz said. He himself has been getting a flood of Facebook friend requests: “I’ve got people friending me from Argentina, Brazil,” he said.

Of the encounter, Retz said: “It only lasted a few minutes, but he could not have been nicer. It was extremely cool. Extremely cool.”

^^ Thanks for clarifying. That makes much more sense (though still amazing that someone so famous could risk getting on public transportation of any sort and not get mobbed).

I know Paul did hit back in his own way, it’s just that Paul’s way of doing it wasn’t as obvious and publicly humiliating as John’s. John is my ultimate hero by the way and I’m not bad mouthing him, I just think John’s style was always more open and clear than Paul’s. The things John said in HDYS were just so nasty. “The only thing you done was Yesterday ” Now John, you know that’s not true! Paul must have felt unbelievably hurt by that. I think he valued John’s opinions so highly that that must have been a bitter blow and I think he has said that he began to question himself and whether he actually had much ability. For Paul to think that is a pretty big deal as he is not usually short of self confidence.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. He could have gone straight to the press and said loads of stuff about John, and turned it into a battlefield. Instead, he released some of his anger/sadness by writing songs that were more subtle and less likely to really hurt John. Had he have wanted to, Paul of all people would’ve known exactly how to do that.

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

I’m glad they took time to savor a streetcar ride in NOLA. I love riding streetcars through the Garden District. And with Paul on it, that streetcar would be named DESIRE!!! heartheartheart Hum, and he has a daughter named Stella.

A NOLA question for Paul: Did you and Nancy share a bananas foster at Brennan’s. That would have been so sweet.

Posts upthread seem to indicate restraining order might be his answer.

So my question to Paul is: Do you have someone who works for you lurking on this forum and reports to you what is being said? Or, do you have someone actively posting on here?

Is it one of you? Paranoia settles in. We can’t go on with suspicious minds. <–  <– not serious thoughts. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

A streetcar named Desire. apple01 An apple for that! I love the streetcars there too. I hate driving in New Orleans traffic, its almost foreign to me, and funny thing is its the next state over from me. So, streetcar great alternative and great for siteseeing. :D

Btw, Brennan’s is closed now, so hopefully he went while he was there.

Did you know he lived in New Orleans for about two months who recording Mars and Venus? He stayed at Le Richelieu, which is the French Quarter, but not the busy part of the French Quarter.

This could be why Ringo said no more fan mail. lol That would be funny if it was one of us.

I’ve seen the pics of him and Linda in clown outfits for Mardi Gras. And New Orleans is the site of the John/Paul reunion that never happened because Yoko circumvented it.

Didn’t know that about Brennan’s :-( . I went to New Orleans quite often when I was a student at Southern Miss many years ago. Fond memories. I remember one time I was there with a friend in late December, and it was bitterly cold. We were the only two people on Bourbon Street during the middle of the day. We could hear our own footsteps. That sound has stayed in my mind all these years. My last trip there was in 2002. I need to get back down there! I didn’t know about Paul living there either. It’s such an interesting place.

Maybe Ringo’s wife got tired and paranoid with the fan mail???

Oh cool you went to Southern Miss. :) My hubby went there and I have visited there several times; however, I go to William Carey. Last time I went to New Orleans was this past July and before that about 5 years ago, mostly because of school & work keeping me busy. I use to go there often as a child and teenager.  My favorite places are the voo doo shops and other shops along Decatur and Canal. They are suppose to clean up around N. Rampart St, just outside of the quarters that has a dangerous public housing and St. Louis Cemetery #1, which is one of the most haunted cemeteries and most famous. So, if everything goes well I might go there and mark that off my bucket list cause I love supernatural stuff. It is great to see the city bounce back after Katrina. Yes, there is still some progress to be made and scars left, but its like that all over the coast.

Yeah, Brennan’s closed around June/July of this year because of a family dispute. What is sad they closed without telling their employees!

Maybe or maybe Ringo is tired.

I didn’t know Paul stayed in New Orleans during Venus And Mars .  That explains more the patter/patois he starts off the song “Listen to What the Man Said”, which I always thought sounded very New Orleansy anyway.

Ringo on the fan mail (from Rolling Stone):

Ringo Starr has responded to the outcry following his video message asking fans to no longer send him mail to  autograph. The video was lamented by people who deemed Starr as unappreciative and too busy for his fans. Instead, Starr says in a statement, the ban on fan mail was “in direct response to an inordinate amount of items which have recently appeared for sale on e-bay, and to those that repeatedly send cards and items to be signed.” Starr also felt all the mail was “a waste of paper and we all should be mindful of our carbon footprint,” so fan e-mail is probably still encouraged. Starr also added that the initial video message wasn’t aimed at his “real fans” who understand Ringo “has always signed items and is in fact the only Beatle to have been doing so.” “How amazed am I to the reaction to my video update. I hope this statement gets as much. Please read this in a mellow way. Peace and love, Ringo,” Starr said in conclusion.

It would be amazing a Paul ‘New and Rare’ set of intimate shows where it was made clear that it wasn’t about the big Beatles and solo hits. It would give so many such a buzz to be in attendance – and maybe Paul a wee bit of extra warmth and appreciation knowing folks weren’t there just for Hey Jude , Yesterday , I Saw Here Standing There and the like. Maybe that should be the one question we should ask Paul.

I have my credit card out ready to purchase tickets to one of these shows. So, Paul, which city do I need to get plane ticket to?
