Tommy Chong Wants to Get High with Paul McCartney

Chong says it is on his “bucket list”.

We determined earlier in this conversation that Paul may have to wait until Beatrice turns 18 to get high again (if he ever wants to get high again that is).

Paul would you get high with Tommy Chong? Would you get high with any of us?

How would your music be different if you never did drugs?

What were you thinking with this look? What phase would you call this?

I’d have to put myself in some sort of interviewer frame of mind, which would be quite difficult because I’m totally a fan.  But I would have questions.  Mostly if he’d be willing to share any regrets he had to overcome, like the interpersonal relationships he had with Stuart or Pete?  In the early days, did he feel a continual need to assert his place in the band?  Stuff like that.  But I think what I really want to know is, whose idea was it to NOT go down and appear on Saturday Night Live?  😀

How big is your ego trip when you get the news that one of your concerts has sold out in no time flat?

Paul, would you add a mouth sax bit to your “Out There” concerts this year. Several of us would love to see you do that.

Or, if you’d rather just do it just for me a-hard-days-night-paul-7 (it sounds like something your talented, sexy mouth can do), I will make a report back to the group.

I’d ask how crazy was the Helter Skelter session? Geoff Emerick said it was the crazied session he’d ever seen and they were all out of their minds.

As I mentioned in the news/NEW threads, Paul’s calling in to KROQ. I emailed the DJ I tend to correspond with, and said I hope he brings up Appreciate, as I think that’s the most KROQ-friendly song. He asked me what else he should ask him!

So I know we’ve had a lot of serious and jokey questions here, but if you’re a radio DJ with only a few minutes to talk to him (not sure how long, but I’m assuming the span of a 10 min break) what kind of questions would you try to ask that haven’t been asked?

And, no, not that one. ;->

Maybe its already known but what are the plans for his next album, there was talk a while back there would be another in a similar vein to Run Devil Run and Choba B Cccp.

Does he plan to come to the UK this year with his band for live gigs?

Thanks, MMM. I wonder if he’ll consider it too early to bring up the next album, but I’ll throw that in there. Definitely will ask about UK/other countries.

Does he know much about Lewisohn’s book and what does he think about it?

How is is self-esteem these days? He is looking so happy with Nancy. (something along the lines of psychological well-being)

When can we expect a new album from him?

Does he have any reataurant recommendations for London?

I hope someone has some technical music questions to ask him.

I’ll keep thinking.

EDIT: check that recording sessions book thread.

Thanks, Ahhh Girl. I’ll keep thinking too. I want to ask something about the 50th anniversaries, what that means to him and whether or not that gets routine or if he looks back with a feeling of disbelief/awe/amazement.

yep, you read my mind. I was going to put that idea in my previous post. I was trying to figure out the best way to ask it. I like where you went with it.

When you recorded the last couplet for Abbey Road , did you think people would still be singing along to it several decades later? (or some other part of a song could be substituted into the question)

Is he surprised we are still talking about and loving The Beatles – even teens randomly  discovering them on their own?

Something about the Hamburg days would be nice.

Inspired by finding the use of the word “nicked” in a post Joe made about what he would have done if he were a postman with postcards sent to Ringo’s house,

I wonder if Paul would tell us what was the most recent sound he nicked (from whom) and/or is there something he has heard recently that he plans on nicking.

Paul, were there ever any riffs, licks or parts played by George or John on the guitar which you yourself were unable to play?  If so, are you still unable to play them?

Do you listen to your voice now and get frustrated that it’s noticeably aged? Or have you made peace with it, and figure it is what it is?

Funny Paper said
“Stupid question, but I’d want to know how does it feel to be Paul McCartney ? Does he wake up every day thinking about how fabulous he is, or does he still feel like a regular man? “

In some interview long ago, I think back in the early 80s, he said something like (to paraphrase):  “You know, I’m just a normal bloke like anyone else — the only strange thing about me is that I’m ‘Paul McCartney ‘…”

I just can’t imagine (or don’t want to imagine) that he wakes up real smug every morning and the first thing he says is “Hey, Look At Me world, I’m Paul McCartney , a Beatles god”. I think he probably says something like, “Hey, man, where’s my toothbrush?” The reasons I think about this: “Smile Away “, the interview he did with the Daily Mail about being in the Japanese prison (he mentions getting to clean his teeth twice), and this picture:

LOL, thanks for posting that photo! I’d never seen it before. And I think you’re on to something… some reporter wrote a little “spending a day with the Fabs” article back during the Beatles touring days, and said that Paul brushed his teeth like ten times a day.

Two more toothbrush pictures to go along with that one.

In honor of Paul’s birthday, I will change the pulsating head (oops, Fifty Shades material, sorry Annadog40. But those who remember this thread know the imagery fits here too) of my electric toothbrush. I change it on the 18th of each of these months: December, March, June, September.

So, questions for Paul:

It was 50 years ago today that you turned 22. How do you compare the two birthdays and your life during these two times?

How are you celebrating your birthday today? What did Beatrice give you for your birthday?

Are you feeling better and stronger each day? Will you be ready to rock for Zig on July 5th?
