@Ahhh Girl, I was wondering if we should add a (spoiler) warning to the title of this thread, since we've been talking about them freely?

??? lol, I'm not following at all – I have had a Dr. Pepper, Red Bull, and two Excedrin migraine pills this morning, but I'm still not awake, and my head is still hurting. I probably ought not be writing anything on the forum right now – who knows what I might type?.?. I really, really better stay away from the "Hey Joe" thread. paul-mccartneya-hard-days-night-ringo-14a-hard-days-night-ringo-6

@Ahhh Girl The title is Paul's "Out There" tour and I'm wondeirng if it should add (contains spoilers) because we do talk about setlists and not everyone wants to read them.

To get back on topic *ahem* a-hard-days-night-george-10 most verbosely:

I'm listening to the 'Out There' show I saw for the first time (14.7.2013).  It's not a soundboard boot, but it's fairly good quality…Actually it sounds like a front row tape, audience sound is low, Paul's voice sounds like it hasn't been through a sound board (i.e., Paul sounds like he's live, obviously the unstruments are coming from the speakers, but they're not too loud).  Somewhere I think I saw the shows were macca, but as it's the first macca stuff I've knowingly listened too, I can't really say.  It's interesting to hear his voice warm up as the show goes on.  It sounds real good though, it seemed like he was having trouble with it in the mid-late 2000s, from video clips I've seen.  Of course it's not quite his 1960s voice, but it's still better than say…well you can fill in the blanks a-hard-days-night-george-10 I wish they had I've Just Seen A Face on karaoke in the key he sang it in, it was a fifth or so lower than the original release, and I could have done a much better job with it a-hard-days-night-george-10

Ok, so about a third of the way into the show it is sounding like a board tape now.  Paul's voice has a touch of reverb, and is much steadier.  I'm not sure which I like better…obviously the full mix as heard through the speakers is nice and more like what I what I heard at the show, but the early part makes it easier to compare with their early performances…obviously he compares very favorably to 50+ yrs ago, say 1962 live shows), and he was looser, not more or less energetic but in a different way…more as an experienced performer than a young kid hopped up on the excitement of performing.

In fact, something else shows is what a performer Paul is.  The visual show, while not spectacular in terms of special effects like fireworks and laser lights, made it so much better.  Maybe the contact high helped…but it was seeing Paul, his energy, his performance, that made it better, not the special effects (well they helped, but they were really as much distracting as they were good).

@Expert Textpert

I just realized that we will be seeing Paul in concert two days before his birthday AND Ringo in concert two days before his birthday.

For both of them, the concert we see will be the last one they do before their birthday.

x-posted to Ringo's 2014 tour thread.

Would have posted this earlier, but I was shooting a wedding. Los Angeles has been confirmed! August 10 at Dodger Stadium. This has been rumored for months ever since Jackie DeShannon announced it months ago on Breakfast with the Beatles.

LA Times article on Paul's concert. Tickets range for $25-$250 (not including soundcheck tix, of course). I budgeted somewhere in the middle, so I'm glad to know I won't be in nosebleed.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think we payed around $80-$90 for ours, which are pretty good as outlined upthread.

Christ, they are expensive! Bloody hell that's about €180 for good seats :O You pay about €100 to see top acts in Dublin.

Recessionary times Paul!

Edit 1: Just saw his prices for the O2 in Dublin back in 2009 €86-€156 a-hard-days-night-paul-11

Well, the $250 tickets are for the very front, and actually, Paul's one of the more reasonable of the "high end" artists (think Madonna, U2, Rolling Stones). At least the $25 tickets make it affordable for most people.

Dublin generally gets the cast-offs from British concerts, a population of 4.5 million with only so many fans of a certain artist generally leads to lower ticket prices than say L.A (obviously)

Edit: Actually with the €180 I could go to a weekend long musical festival and still have €30 left over :P

Two more Paul dates have been confirmed:

August 5th: Missoula, MT - Washington-Grizzly Stadium
August 12th: Phoenix, AZ - US Airways Center

There are rumors of a few more dates as of yet to be confirmed as well.

Also, an amazing welcome for Paul in Quito, Ecuador:

Examiner article on the difficulty of getting tickets through Paul's site, and quotes one of the fans who got her wrist signed at Outside Lands.

I was working today, and a friend tried to get tickets for us, with no luck, as I warned him would probably happen. We'll try again Thursday during the Amex presale.

Success!! My friend and I were on the phone together. I pulled up seats I liked, but my friend went into a section above my budget… and then unexpectedly offered to pay the difference on my ticket. So we've got great seats, I'm really happy!

*whew* That stress is over.

BTW, for anyone who missed out today, there's another presale by Goldenvoice tomorrow, Friday at 10am.
