You would think the rarities/outtakes collections wouldn’t be necessary if they were part of the expanded editions of regular albums.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Forget getting a new house or car or anything else and keep the spare cash for the releases, its going to be very expensive.

Unless, of course, the powers that be issue a 50th anniversary remastered Mini Cooper in 3 years!

Back on Topic: I am looking forward to both Macca remasters you mentioned. I too wish they would speed up the release process.

Im now going with the theory that Paul is looking at a 22 year campaign equaling how long it took Apple to release the remastered Beatles albums. The reason for the drip-drip effect is so we are not pining for the releases so much.

It’ll be finished just in time to coincide with the 64th anniversary of the recording of “When I’m 64”

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Im really looking forward to rock show (in my opinion the best concert film ever done) on dvd, and Venus And Mars , Wings At The Speed Of Sound , london town and Back To The Egg (which is, believe it or not, one of my favourite albums of all time (although I don’t like it as much as Abbey Road )) remastered with bonus tracks. I’m sure there would be the glasgow versions of all the songs on that albums +Mull Of Kintyre (london town) and goodnight tonight (Back To The Egg ) on the bonus discs and possibly the kampuchea videos on the dvds and I’m really looking forward to that

Wings Across America and Rock Show are next, and supposedly they’re being released in May! I think we might all be dead before they finish this whole Archive deal, which is why I try not to get too excited about it, only It’s So Hard not to!paul-mccartney

At the beginning i was super excited but with the snail pace of releases i became bored, then with the pathetic way they sold the delux Ram with no sensibley pricey download i achieved the state of incredibly peeved off.

I will be 298 years old when this collection is finished and it will be Paul great-great grandson overing the final releases. How long does it take to put each one together, or is there 1 person working on it and they can only do the odd weekend? GET A MOVE ON!!

WogBlog has an update:

In a recent Universal Music Group showcase, as reported by Billboard, the company revealed their release schedule for 2013 and it was revealed that Concord is planning to unveil their remastered “Wings Over America ” in an elaborate package on May 28th.

The original schedule for McCartney’s remastered series was going to be “Venus And Mars ” and “Wings At The Speed Of Sound ” as well as “Wings Over America “, but plans change. I’m still hoping that the other two albums are going to be released along the way somewhere.

Also, it appears that the plans to release the 1981 “Rockshow” film from the 1976 Wings concert tour separately from the WOA boxed set has been dropped, and the film is now incorporated into the package. What happens to the television special “Wings Over The World” as far as release plans go, we don’t know. However, it should fit in nicely with the “Wings At The Speed Of Sound ” release, just as snugly as the Australian Wings Concert Special from 1975 would fit the “Venus and Mars” remaster.

I have been getting those leaflets from “Ram ” etc. that say “Venus And Mars ” and “Speed of Sound” are due out next.  Has anyone heard any updates on when they might be out?  They are 2 of the 5 remaining McCartney CDs I have to get hold of; I would rather them in this package than the prices the original CD releases are on ebay etc. at the moment.

I really liked “Venus And Mars ” when it came out – that was the new album when I saw him on tour out here.  I was lining up at the concert about 5 hours early and you could hear them inside rehearsing the tracks off it as it was still fairly new then.

I never had “Speed of Sound” as I didn’t like either of the singles off it, but have much more time nowadays for music outside my usual tastes so am looking forward to hearing the whole album at some stage.

I can see the veins popping out on MMM’s forehead and neck. We might need to rush some valium to his house.

The schedule would have been cleared so as not to clash with New and considering there has been no announcement there wont be one before Christmas, i would guess February at the very earliest.

But that might the year 2043 the way things are going. It takes a long time to remaster a cd (see Apple on how long you can take over it) as well as all the bits of paper to shove in the super-duper box so they can charge collectors £80. Bargain.

Has anyone heard any little thing about when the next McCartney remaster is coming out? The last one I remember was “Wings Over America ,” and the brochure that came with it identified “Venus And Mars ” and “Wings At The Speed Of Sound ” as the next releases, but that was back in early 2013 (April or May, I think).

I recall reading somewhere recently that the remaster project might be in danger because of low sales, but I don’t recall where I read that or if it was a reputable source.

Any news on this?

Who knows. More than likely we will get or two later this year. There hasn’t been any announcements or even rumours in months, presumably everyone has given up caring due the snails pace of each release. Paul must be aiming for the World Record for an Ongoing LP Reissue Campaign.

And can this be moved to the Archive Collection thread as it really belongs there. Thank you.

Thanks, mmm, for the suggestion. I got the two posts moved. I also found a small 3-post thread on the same topic that occurred back in October and moved them here too (see posts 70-72 above).

Thanks. I saw that other thread when searching the wrong way for the Archive Thread but ignored it as otherwise i’d undertake a mission to sort out the internet before getting bored and doing something else.

lol Which makes me harken back to my first days in library school. Some enterprising (read that as daft) librarians thought they could organize the whole internet. I’m glad I’m not one to get caught up in fads. I’m not one for being on the bleeding edge. However, my library director does like to live on the edge. The silver lining to that situation is that I have been able to give some rousing presentations at conferences over the years on all the new stuff we have put into place – and tried and retracted. I can say we’ve done a bit of trailblazing for some of the other libraries in my state.

No idea where to post this and here seems appropriate, its One Hand Clapping which was included on the dvd of the archive Band On The Run release back in 2010. Well worth the watch.

One nice, tidy McCartney Archive thread. Now for McCartney to give us one nice, tidy complete archive collection.
