Didn't he say it could have been the fox, wolf, pig or caterpillar was Paul? Glass Onion was written with the idea of messing with fans who were pouring over lyrics trying to find hidden meanings in past Beatle songs and here we have fans pouring over Glass Onion trying to find hidden meanings in a song that was written to mess with fans who were looking for hidden meanings.

John is laughing a wicked laugh from his grave  …it would please his sense of humor greatly (hell, I'm laughing, too….you put that perfectly! :D )

Just to squash all rumors of Paul's demise once and for all…I think we should insist on a DNA test. I volunteer to get a sample of Paul's saliva (for the sake of science, mind you). Then we'll be sure.

A very noble gesture tho you'd have to set up camp before a few folks here to get the saliva.

I have no idea about the legalities  of someone posting a comment on one forum and then someone else quoting it elsewhere and don't want to cause a lawsuit but was searching the net and found this page. Scroll down to the second comment and you'll read one of the most ridiculous clues in the universe. Or someone can explain to me internet forum laws and if its legal i'll copy and post it.

I'm pretty sure that once something is posted by somebody on the internet, it's perfectly legal for anybody else to copy and paste it anywhere else.

But yeah, that's a pretty idiotic "clue", especially considering that the actual conversation is clearly transcribed right in the "songfacts" section, and sounds nothing like what the guy apparently heard.

I like black music, disco music. I like the disco music that's out now - John Lennon, 1975

But that doesn't dilute the fact that in Glass Onion John says, "Here's another clue for you all, the Walrus was Paul" that line didn't come out of nowhere – or maybe it did. BTW I don't for a minute believe that Paul is or was dead.

He said that specifically to fuck with people…  obviously it worked.  ahdn_paul_01

Lennon was always trying to confuse the fans, it was a game for him. Pete Shotten recounted in his book that one day John asked him to recite a boyhood poem (the British equivalent of "Great big gobs of green gritty gopher guts"), which got turned into the third verse of I Am The Walrus. "They'll never figure this one out, Pete."

Glass Onion is about not being able to see clearly through the many layers between the Beatles and their fans. The line about "Bent back tulips" refers to a restaurateur who served his dishes with flowers.

I'd of course heard about the Paul is Dead theory before but recently I very briefly became a bit obsessed with it. I have never truly believed it but after some research I did start to wonder. (I can be quite gullible at times!) However, I have now come to my senses and concur that it is complete rubbish. It's entertaining rubbish though!

Forgot to add: I was listening to Strawberry Fields Forever on the anthology album and John is clearly saying Cranberry Sauce in an early take of the song. He pronounces the C really clearly. So that's another "clue" debunked! JOHN DID NOT BURY PAUL!!!!!!!!!

My point is that I think the hoax began before 1969 and that somewhere in their personal twisted sense of humor the Beatles began pushing this Paul is Dead thing along somewhere in 1966 or 1967. They may not have started it – but they jumped on it -

Based on what though? Name one source that has a public rumour of Paul's "death" in the time period you're quoting ('66-'67) that The Beatles could have jumped onto. In all my years following them, and with all that I have read and researched over those years, I have never seen anywhere even the slightest suggestion of the "Paul Is Dead" rumour predating 1969.

You say, "They may not have started it", then who and when are you suggesting? Without saying that they picked up on this rumour started by this person/these people at this time you're attempting a new rumour without anything to stand it on. You're suggesting they jumped on a bandwagon, I'm asking what bandwagon?

EDIT: The other problem with your theory is that there is NO hand above the Walrus's head on the cover of MMT.

The hand above Paul's head occurs on the cover of Sgt. Pepper.

Ok – so I said a few months back that I thought the Paul is Dead Rumor began in 66 or 67 and if they didn't start it, the Beatles jumped on it. I was wrong about which album had the hand over Paul's head – but if you read above you get the gist of my point.

So now this link comes out – https://lh3.ggpht.com/-Ykjanv_WQpw/UX3vcZUr53I/AAAAAAAAAKE/1W-4vsYAWGs/s320/beatles+book+monthly+february+1967+pid.jpg – from Beatles Monthly showing the Paul is Dead stuff began in February 1967 – plenty of time to use Pepper, MMT and the White Album to fuel the rumor.

I don't think Paul is dead, but I do think the Beatles added fuel to the fire.

I feel vindicated.

The link says 1967; however, the little newspapers snip its do not.

The walrus is Paul lyric did not come out of nowhere. John was good like that and apparently his trick worked on you.a-hard-days-night-george-10

I do find the Paul is dead theory fun though like other controversies.

All the best conspiracy and nutter theories have a grain of possibility and an odd logic which draws folks in.

It would explain why Paul sometimes has a big Irish moon face, and other times has a slim face.  You see, there were three Pauls in the beginning, and one of them died.  Now, one of the two appears in public at every other time.

Maybe he has a twin with a slightly slimmer face and whenever the pressure of being Paul McCartney becomes too much they switch places for a while. I've just solved the mystery, I am a genius.

The walrus was Paul isn't even a clue. John put that in to do something nice for Paul, saying that they're "close as can be." If The Beatles were "adding fuel to the fire," they were doing a terrible job, because none of the clues in their songs, or album covers are even remotely convincing.

I just closed the comments on my Paul Is Dead article. The whole thing had descended well into the murky real of the terminally delusional.

Never even realised but the 9th November is the day that Paul supposedly died all those years ago.

We should be having a memorial for him.
