Thanks for the video, sky999.

Can someone remember how long Katy said she had been a fan of Paul’s?

If she was brought up so religiously that her parents wouldn’t let her go trick-or-treating or even give out candy at Halloween, I would be very surprised if they let her listen to any of Paul’s music growing up.

Perry has said in the past, “Growing up I wasn’t really allowed to listen to a whole lot of what my mom would call, secular music.” Her first album, in 2001, as Katy Hudson (her real name), was an unsuccessful gospel rock album.

It seems she didn’t have the opportunity to start exploring “secular music” until she left home at age 17 (around 2002-3) for Los Angeles, to record with Alanis Morissette’s producer Glen Ballad. Though nothing came of the sessions, it was during this time that she began educating herself in forms of music other than “country gospel”.

I imagine, when she running around the LA music scene asking who she should listen to, The Beatles would have been recommended very early on. How quickly she explored the whole catalogue, and went on to the solo albums, can’t be said, but I’d bet she was pointed in that direction about ten years ago. When she did get to release her first single as a pop artist, rather than as a religious singer, her parents fell out with her for a while…

I watched about 10 seconds. I don’t think I want to see anymore. Perhaps it is good that I am just now finding out who she is. I like what she said about coming to terms with being an adult & that her new album reflects this change.

He is good, isn’t he? Good to hear you love all of his interviews. I watch as many as I can. I didn’t realise Graham had that much of an overseas following, yet all these thanks for posting the links! What an adorable little Irish Leprechaun he is! a-hard-days-night-george-10

That performance above by Will Smith and the rest caused a social media storm when it was first broadcast. A fantastic tv moment.

I’ve seen a few episodes of the show due to following entertainers who have appeared on the show. I’m not sure if its on BBC America, but of course there is youtube. a-hard-days-night-paul-8

Edit: I looked it up and it does come on BBC America, but I think we maybe a week behind because they are showing Paul’s interview on there this coming Saturday. Oh well, I shall watch again, on a bigger screen this time.

YouTube video of Paul on Jools Holland that’s viewable in the US.

He missed the “hear the people shout” cue after the slow bit in “Queenie Eye ,” so that was the first time I’d noticed the piano bit underneath. Or maybe his keyboardist was covering for him.

Okay, I’m done catching up on everything I wanted to post yesterday. :-)

I’ve always thought that Howard Stern is the world’s best interviewer regardless of whom he’s interviewing; he didn’t disappoint this time either.

I was a little surprised with Paul’s answer to Stern’s question about when he first thought of George as a serious composer: “Something ” and “Here Comes The Sun “. He thought George had written a couple of good songs before. He doesn’t mention “While My Guitar…” by name.

He also gets the order of Revolver and Rubber Soul mixed up – confirming the concept that in many ways they were one album.

Look forward to checking out these other interviews.

Audio interview with Paul about The White Album for InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands. Haven’t listened to it yet, so I don’t know if it’s a recent interview.

I just listened to both parts of the interview. It is recent – this month. I learned some new things like the working title of the White Album and the inspiration for Savoy Truffle .

The interview contains quite a bit of audio/interview from George also.

Quite a good listen, I’d say.

It is my day off from work this week. I had been meaning to get around to listening to part 1. I’m glad you sent out the reminder and that both parts were out so I could listen to the whole interview.

There’s a behind-the-scenes of the Bang & Olufsen interview video at Paul’s YouTube. I imagine that window washer almost falling from the shock.

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I’m excited to be amongst a group of like-minded ladies!

I wanted to chime in on the Jane Asher discussion from a few pages back. It was about 15 years ago so my memory isn’t pristine. But back then Barry Miles did a reading/Q&A to promote Many Years from Now and he was asked what if any big changes Paul made to the book. Miles said Paul was pretty open but in the editing process he would take out mentions of Jane. Miles at first was confused because it wasn’t the extended passages where Paul talked about Jane and their relationship, but the passing mentions. Like if Miles wrote, “Paul and Jane attended a play” Paul would cross it out and want it to just say, “Paul attended a play.” Miles eventually figured it out; it was because Linda was ill at that time, and so Paul didn’t want MYFN to become a book about all the glamorous events and parties Paul and Jane attended.

That will always stick out in mind because it was back shortly after Linda’s death, and Miles was the first insider who let on about how difficult the last few years of Linda’s life were, via that and some other comments he made.
