Well, I appreciate that this site allows for differences of opinion and even some of my rather harsh jabs at certain Beatles now and then have been permitted. But I agree this Will T. guy was way too histrionic and palpably hysterical. Classic case of shooting himself in the foot.

FWIW when I saw McCartney a couple of years ago in Cardiff nobody stopped anyone bringing SLRs into the stadium. I think it's more to do with venue policy than artist specifications. I may be wrong, but I can't imagine McCartney being that uptight over cameras nowadays. He seems happy to let people have what they want.

You were met with civil disagreements over your opinion of McCartney, some agreement over some of McCartney's flaws, and questioning of what you were hoping to achieve You admit that your original post was intended to be inflammatory, to see what response you could get from us. On Paul's "control" problem, I recall a scene in the movie Let It Be where he's apparently instructing Billy Preston a tad too much, and one can tell -- at least it seemed so to me -- that Billy was beginning to get a little fed up, though he kept it rather bottled up.

So I'm wondering, if not for the camera brouhaha, would the concert experience have been just fine?

Prohibiting cameras with detachable lenses is a pretty common terms-of-service kind of thing at concerts, something that you are agreeing to when you purchase the tickets. It used to apply to ALL cameras, but cameras in phones effectively killed that. The intent is to prevent "professional-level" photographs from being taken and then sold, which isn't exactly a Macca-exclusive issue, is it?

I can see where Will T. is coming from. I may not share in his views, but he is certainly entitled to have and share them with us.

I have yet to see Paul in concert. However, many of you have and until now I have not heard any complaints. If all of the conditions Will T. mentioned are true, and it means that I can have an awesome experience like the rest of you had, then long live the conditions.
