I got sent an email today…
Sir Paul McCartney’s first ballet score, “Ocean’s Kingdom,” with choreography by Peter Martins, will have its world premiere at the New York City Ballet on September 22, 2011, at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Fashion designer Stella McCartney, Sir Paul’s daughter, designed the costumes for this ballet.
This is New York City Ballet's fall gala, so not only will Sir Paul be here, but everyone else too! We'd love for lots of Beatles fans to be here for this historic event.
We are offering groups of 15 or more tickets to the world premier on September 22 at $55 per ticket.
If you would like to put a group together—or know someone who would—to join us for this very exciting, once-in-a-lifetime experience for the world premiere of “Ocean’s Kingdom,” please contact me as soon as possible.
“Ocean’s Kingdom” will be performed four more times this fall:
1. September 24 at 2 p.m.;
2. September 25, 3 p.m.;
3. September 27 at 7:30 p.m. and
4. September 29 at 7:30 p.m.For those dates we have group tickets in all price ranges, from $29 to $149. The minimum number of tickets for a group is 15.
There is a $2 facility fee per ticket and an order processing fee of $10 per group order.
Individual tickets go on sale to the general public on August 8, so please let me know before then if you’d like tickets. I will be happy to help your group secure tickets for any of the dates above.
Unfortunately I'm over 3,000 miles away and I don't think I could get a group of 15 people together for the flight. However, if anyone here has got enough friends who like ballet and want tickets, let me know and I'll put you in touch with my contact (who is from NYC Ballet – it's legit). I will, of course, expect photos and a report in return…
However, 15 tickets at $57 each, plus an extra $10 for booking comes to $865. Quite a price to pay. I've asked if individual tickets will be available for the premiere – I'll let you know.

Sept. 22 is my brother's birthday. Uhmm I don't think he would like to see a ballet as a present. Neither do I have enough people to drag them to this. Nor will I be in New York at this time. 
I actually would see this too. Not the fact that it's Paul but any chance to go to Lincoln Center is worth taking up.

Yeah, Penny – a chance to go to Lincoln Center would be very cool. I've never been.
Not living in a big city any more has it's compensations, but I do miss being able to drive only 20 minutes to see a ballet, hear a symphony, take in a play, etc…
If anyone gets a chance to see this, I would be curious to read your thoughts on the score.

Zig and Penny – While I was in NYC, I drove past the Lincoln Center. I didn't go in, but I think it would be great. And Zig – that whole big city small town thing? I know all about it. Whenever I'm in downtown Ottawa, I think, "I'd love to live here." Whenever we go visit my friends out in Shawville, I say, "Boy, living out here would be cool." And right now? Stuck in suburbia. So I know the feeling.

The Lincoln Center is one of the world's premier venues for performing arts. I've always wanted to see something there, just to say I had.
It is also where The Juilliard School is located.

Lincoln Center is absolutely beautiful… from the outside. Never actually been inside. Zig basically summed it up. I hear their performances of the Nutcracker are amazing. One day…

In the movie Moonstruck, Nicolas Cage takes Cher to the opera there. You can see the interior of the Metropolitan Opera House.

It was also a backdrop in a scene from Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery.
He and Diane Keaton are walking out of the Lincoln Center and he said to her, "I can't listen to that much Wagner, ya know? I start to get the urge to conquer Poland."
I normally don't go in for his movies, but this one is fantastic!

The movie Black Swan with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis was also shot in Lincoln Center. The movie was actually pretty good. Awkward is some parts. Odd in others. But I liked what the story had become.
