Fixed the title.
I met Paul McCartney once, and I've been in the same room as him on another occasion. I think your best chance is to become a musician, journalist, filmmaker, studio staffer, MPL employee or lucky.
Thankyou for fixing the title Joe.
And you really are lucky how did you meet him?
I guess I'm going to have to go for lucky as well.. however my Dad met him a few years back when he was married to Heather Mills. He came to a bar in Washington, England with her and he let my Dad sit with him
I was well jealous because I had left about half an hour before he went in!

I've told the story elsewhere (and should probably add it to the Beatles Diary section), but on 9 October 1992 he and Linda held a private view of her photographs at the Royal Photographic Society in Bath (where I grew up). It was the launch of her book Sixties. I was 16 and someone I knew's mother was a member of the Society, so I went along. I got a book and a Sgt Pepper CD signed.
He was also at the George Martin night for Deafness Research UK a year or so ago, and I was sitting about five seats away from him in the front row, though I only realised when he got up to leave.
(Sorry for those of you who have heard those stories before.)

I met McCartney in June of 1976. It was during the Wings Over America tour. My friend had a Beatles Newletter and we had to sneak on his plane at SFO to meet him. This was of course before all the security measures.
Wow! How did you sneak past and what was his reaction? Did you surprise him?

I would say you should contact MPL's main office via email and see if there is a way to get a message to him but good luck. It won't be easy. Maybe try and get BackStage passes the next time he is in your town.
Do you know the MPL email?

It was at a private airstrip at San Francisco Intl. We had gone there earlier in the day and met this girl's father we were in line with at the Cow Palace. His name was Mr. Casey. We decided not to watch the last encore and headed to the airport instead. We walked up to the gate. It was around 11:00pm. and said "yes, we are with Mr. Casey" and they opened up the gates. We ran from plane to plane just like in a James Bond movie trying not to get caught. When we arrived at his private plane, there was nobody around so we went on board and asked a lot of questions. After about 15 minutes three limos pulled up outside and Paul came out. One of his security people pushed us back but Paul came over to us and chatted with us for about a minute. I was in shock but for the first time in my life I actually looked down on a Beatle instead of looking up my whole life. I am 6'2" and he is 5'11". The best part was we were the only ones with him at the plane so we had him all to ourselves.

No, 5'11" I guess is about average. Maybe less. I dunno, because everyone is taller than me, practically.

You mean meters? I think if you're 5'7" then they can't be 1.55 meters. (Not that I know much about meter measurement, sorry.)
71 inches = 1.8034 meters (a.k.a. 5'11")
67 inches = 1.7018 meters (a.k.a. 5'7")
62 inches = 1.5748 meters (a.k.a. 5'2")
Pocket-sized Beatles do sound cute, though.

*sighs relieved* thank you Star Wisher. Damn American System and their inches and feets. I just don't get it.
My fantasy of being a Beatle girlfriend does NOT include leaning towards the Beatle to kiss him. They do that.

Ha ha! The flip side of it is that it gets kind of tedious to indicate to the guy that you want to kiss him because you aren't exactly at eye level. What do you do, tug at the sleeve of his jacket? Act like you're 7 and step on his foot? <-- no, you don't do that.
The guy I'm seeing Friday is either 6 foot even or 6'4". He says 6, website says 6'4". That's kind of a big difference in my shoes. I'll probably end up cracking up if I see he is 6'4".
Oh, God…derailment.
Yes, that's right. Paul McCartney should be about 5'11 or so. And now back to your regularly scheduled thread…
