Or the live version, is is just him, or is there syntheised strings? I can't remember.

This song is so beautiful. I've listened to it every day since my Nanna died. It does make me feel better just because of the fact it's Paul singing but it makes me cry because it's just so beautiful.

Godd, I didn't think music could have such an impact but obviously it can, and it has.

Paul McCartney is just perfect. He's staying in my life forever

It certainly does. That's one of the million reasons why I'm so glad to be a Beatles fan.

Oh yes, when he says 'what about the night we cried? there wasnt any reason left to keep it all inside' that gets me. When I saw him this summer, it seemed to me that he was singing it from the heart. He really meant it. Every version of anything Paul ever does is perfect to me though, hehea-hard-days-night-paul-11

It always gets me there too, it was the one of the few times I have ever cried because of a song. Even just reading the lyrics made me tear up.

I wouldn't go as far as to claim it's his best solo career song, but I think it's the most moving one. I was getting tired of Paul's "Silly love songs"(great song by the way)and that one made me almost cry. Poor Paul...a-hard-days-night-paul-9

Really?........ Well........ Really?......... I don't know, my dad died when I was young so maybe that's why it gets me soo much. I don't know though, I feel like anyone who has lost someone (even just lost touch with) could relate?a-hard-days-night-george-1

This song is very touching indeed. I hate it when people say that Paul McCartney truly did die. Only the true Paul would know to write a song like this.

I salute the lady who screamed "I love you Paul!" at a tribute band's concert.

This song is about John, and I'm always curious, what does he want to say with "What about the night we cried?" I guess it's when John lost his Mom... but I'd like to know. Has Paul said what he means with that line?

I remember reading a quote about that. It was when they were on tour, and they got really drunk one night, (I think to the point they were taking turns in worship of the porcelain god, but I'm not sure) and they were laughing and crying, talking about how great the other was – basically the kind of things they could never say as sober, Northern men.

Edit: Found it! Nothing wrong with my memory.

“We were in Key West in 1964. We were due to fly into
Jacksonville, in Florida, and do a concert there, but we’d been diverted
because of a hurricane. We stayed there for a couple of days, not
knowing what to do except, like, drink. I remember drinking way too
much, and having one of those talking-to-the-toilet bowl evenings. It
was during that night, when we’d all stayed up way too late, and we got
so pissed that we ended up crying - about, you know, how wonderful we
were, and how much we loved each other, even though we’d never said
anything. It was a good one: you never say anything like that.
Especially if you’re a Northern Man.”

Paul explaining the line “What about the night we cried?” from Here Today

Thank you skye!! And yes it's quite funny indeed!!! Actually if you see in the Good Evening New York City video, the song gets him and he gets kind of pissed off for that and hits the guitar at the end quite hard. i mean, not pissed of "I screw it up" but kind of angry when you let something to get you. But it's hard. When I saw the video that part truly got me. a-hard-days-night-paul-5
