Old Brown shoe
The bass in Old Brown Shoe was actually played by George
Some People on the article page claims that Paul must have played it.

I think it's likely that George played it, it's more of a riff than a melodic bass line which Paul was famous for.
Plus it doesn't have Paul's fat bass sound but sounds more like a deep guitar anyway.
Sorry btw that I didn't contribute much to this thread despite my username, but all my favourites have been rightfully mentioned before, so I didn't feel I had much to add.
My favourite bass song is maybe "I want you (She's so heavy)".
Or Something.
Or Dear Prudence.
Or Baby you're a rich man.
Or Taxman.
Or And your bird can sing.
Or Paperback writer.
Or Tomorrow never knows.
Or While my guitar gently weeps.
Or A day in the life or ANY other Peppers song (except for WYWY and SLH for obvious reasons).
Or I saw her standing there.
Or Come together.
OR Hey bulldog.
Or Rain.
See what I mean?
But I will use my posting to suggest a closer listen to "Nowhere man" again, since it is a perfect yet bass-wise underappreciated example of Paul's groundbreaking work with his instrument. ANY other bass player would have kept to a simple ground note bass line, but Paul does all this crazy melodic and rhythmic stuff. Check it out please! And really check out the Sgt Peppers album especially for all these INSANE basslines on ALL the songs that have a bass!

*stupid voice*
What obvious reasons?
*regular voice*
Oh, "A Day in the Life" is AMAZING! But I think the best part is the piano in "woke up, fell out of bed." (Right after "in seconds flat")
OK, everyone in unison…
1, 2, 3…
PAUL McCARTNEY IS INCREDIBLE!
mr. Sun king coming together said And yes, YouTube comments are stupid. But hilariously so.

Rain should have been the Aside over Paperback Writer
I totally agree with you, but Paperback Writer is the more commercial of the two, so it probably wouldn't have sold as much if Rain was the A-side
