I will get this…….

I thought for a moment Barry Gibb had drawn the short straw……. Then I remembered how Joe Cocker showed us just what can be done with that old music Hall song Paul wrote in his early teens….

There is an exclusive 2-disc + DVD available on Amazon for only three dollars more than the 2-disc version.

See your point…….But I like tributes………I like some of these artists very much.

I mean…. thinking about it a little more deeply…..Are you saying, you’ve never bought a Blues or Jazz….or Classical album because they’re interpretations of someone’s work, rather than something ‘new’?

Are you saying when you’ve heard BB King do a song, you’re not interested in Eric or Jimmy’s take on it? If so then we can also right-off, as Karaoke, Sinatra, Nat Cole, Tony Bennet, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong……..etc etc.

Having said all that, if the contributions adhere exactly to Paul’s originals without any effort to interpret or ‘Joe Cocker them up’ it won’t be of any value and you’ll be right……Let’s see.

Just thinking about Joe Cocker’s, ‘With A Little Help From My Friends ‘. Ignoring the better or worse argument …….I think it’s great. Jimmy Page didn’t cover many Beatles songs..Chris Stainton on keyboards….. Nice to have in this version in the world don’t cha think?

They’re adding to the promo playlist at YouTube. Now there’s a sample of the BB King cover.

Thanks for posting Parlance, not that i found the clip that good – the singing sounds very lacking (not sure if that’s the right word, i doubt it is).ahdn_paul_01

I’m with you. I didn’t post it a couple of days ago because he’s just not hitting the notes and I found it a little embarrassing. But then I saw some positive responses on FB, and figured, what the heck, someone might appreciate it.

Its far better than ‘Wanderlust’, but that will be a very common occurrence on a release such as this.

Yikes – so far I’m hearing older guys singing karaoke to McCartney songs. If you’re going to do a cover, better bring something new to the table. At least then there’s something to discuss.

Sample from Heart’s version of Band On The Run . Actual vocals would have been nice to hear.

^ Wow, that’s a pretty crappy preview. I mean, it sounds good, but… as you said, vocals would’ve been nice…

There is nothing so far that makes me get interested in the slightest apart from Smokey doing ‘So Bad’ (which must be ironic).

I was really considering getting this, but judging by these previews the only decent ones have been BB King and Smokey Robinson. Was hoping the artists would put their own stamp on the songs instead of just replicating the originals.
