I don't know what Live at the BBC is… What is it? (I know I could look it up but I want to hear what all of you have to say about it.)

Seriously? It's an album containing BBC recordings. Most (all?) are from TV and radio sessions – it's not live as in concert recordings. There are a few short interview snippets too. The main draw, though, is being able to hear all the old r&b songs they never recorded for EMI or played live once they became famous. Pick up a copy if you like early Beatles.

Thanks for the info! That's probably the only Beatles album I've never heard of. I should get a copy now that I know what it is. (You can delete this thread if you want to.)

EDIT: And only now am I realizing that I could have looked on this very website to figure out what it is. I'm sorry for being such an idiot.

Live at the BBC is as good an idea we can get of what they were like at the Cavern and in Hamburg. There were thirty-odd covers that were only recorded for the BBC. All are BBC radio recordings, though some are live audience recordings. The official is only the tip of the iceberg though, they recorded nigh on three hundred tracks for the BBC. They had their own weekly half-hour show, Pop Go The Beatles, for 15 weeks in 1963!

Interesting! I've never heard of Pop Go The Beatles! Maybe I should read more of the articles on this website, so I don't seem so ignorant and idiotic…

A great album, well worth the listen. One of my faves of theirs.

It took years before I heard about it, but it's definitely worth listening to. I especially like some of the interviews that were on it.

Personally me, I would recommend Live at The BBC, and other Beatles BBC Bootlegs.

Gee, I would never guess that from your user name!
