Offline I love this album. I listen to this every chance I get. This morning I had it playing while getting ready for school, and I felt like it was 1963 (It helped that it was foggy this morning too). The speech after song concept isn’t so bad as I thought it was. It actually worked better.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

Offline Ok, i have the volume 2 (the supermarket the cd came from doesn’t stock volume 1).
As always the cd and booklet look fabulous and will sit alongside the remasters proudly and loving the bbc tracks means that regardless of the odd edit here and there it won’t make it anyway lesser of a listen.
Is it just me or is there an edit on cd 1 track 1? John comes in very quickly after “and Ringo Starr ” and it doesn’t sound natural (let it begin
).

Wait – you bought the Red Album for A Day In The Life ?Red and Blue, they came together in a cardboard box (like with the new BBC Collection). I wanted the remastered clean intro, saw the cd set in the shop and went on impulse. For the new BBC volumes i am getting both but not the collection box. See Apple, you only get £26 quid off me for stuff i already have and don’t really need, so ha, who’s the idiot now.

Offline I didn’t have a go at anyone and i said, possibly elsewhere, there are always exceptions especially Beatles cd’s which i admit i’m a fool for. Anyway if you want idiot status i bought that 7″ Love Me Do single from last years 50th Anniversary. Looked at it once and not again.
Now, if i write all that really quickly and then go elsewhere i might just forget quickly enough and continue to spend my money on Beatle stuff i don’t really need.

Offline I bought the Love Me Do single as well! I’m glad to have it. My girls have grown up with a Father who passionately loves music, so I suspect that the 45 will end up meaning more to them than it does to me.
For whatever reason, I never felt the need to own the bootlegs of the complete BBC sessions, so Volume 2 is just such a pleasant joy for me. It’s playing right now…
I’m somewhat disappointed in the lack of media attention compared to previous releases, but I suppose that’s a byproduct of years passing.

I recall the ’94 release being huge at the time but i was 13 then and it was huge for me so maybe the two are crossovers. Also the ’94 version was the first Beatles album in 24 years to include previously unreleased material and a “new” Lennon/McCartney original, since then we have had the Anthology series, Love and Let It Be Naked featuring some kind of new angle on the Beatles plus the hugeness of 1. As far as i am aware it’s getting more promotion than Elvis, but then i haven’t been following his latest greatest hits compilation and maybe if you don’t follow the Beatles the same could be said for this.

I think that reflects the lack of new songs, as opposed to new versions of already released songs. If it had 20 songs we hadn’t heard before, rather than 2, then it would have had a lot more press.

Yeah, it might have got more attention if there were more songs that were not released until now. Also I really do not see anything on the Beatles anyways if something like that comes out.

Glad to hear the CD plays ok. I hate damaging discs, and just today managed to drop a newly arrived Beaucoups of Blues when trying to fit it on the crowded shelf for the first time, luckily it looks ok.
On topic; my BBC Volume 2 had a big scratch mark on the 2nd disc when I bought it – this has happened with the last 3 new CDs I have bought and the store keeps insisting I try it before I return them – which potentially means a trek back to the shop. This time I refused to leave until they replaced it. I’m not sure if they are just cheaply made and packed or if it is from the use of card with no inner sleeve (see our discussion elsewhere on CD packaging).

Assuming you are asking whether it will get its own sub-forum, and not wishing to speak for Joe, I would say no. If you look at the Anthology albums, the 3 volumes are given just the one sub-forum, and I see no reason to treat Live At The BBC any differently – despite the time-lag between the 2 volumes.

I’ve only listened to the first disc so far, and I enjoyed it. It felt more like an actual radio show than Vol 1, and afterwards I read Kevin Howlett say that’s exactly what they tried to do.

Offline Got volume 1 today so after detailing all the tracks in itunes have a marathon BBC album to listen to. It’s why volume 2 hasn’t been played yet. 
Did anyone listen to the BBC 2 radio show last night that looked back at the BBC sessions from ’63 and ’64. The only piece of music played that isn’t on the two On Air LP’s was the Pop Go The Beatles theme but there was an interview from Pop Chat(?) that was heard. In some places i had read that part of a radio show with Kenny Everett from ’68 was going to be heard but there was nothing in the special last night.
