OfflineIt's only getting released when Paul and Ringo are dead and Buried. They blocked the release in (I Think) 2007.

Ok, legally at a reasonable price. Apple is slow at this kind of thing. I'd like to rent it first.
You need to clarify that!!

OfflineWell, wow. Color me puzzled. I KNOW we've all seen clips from that time period. I just assumed it was bits and pieces of the movie itself. I guess I'm saying if they've released bits and pieces of it, why not do the whole thing?
$150, seriously?

OfflineThe renting part or that Apple is slow? I'd prefer to rent it first because if it is half as painful as it is made out to be, well, I'm not a masochist. Apple is slow with everything because of all their lawyers and accountants. By the time they finally agree on something, interest has waned.

OfflineApple being slow. How you want to watch the movie is totally up to you.
I was just under the impression it WAS out there commercially. But for $150? No way!
What Beatles fan is so die-hard they'd spend the equivalent to a month of groceries to see their beloved band self-destruct, anyways?

The key part of that is "see their beloved band"!
The whole movie is on Youtube, split into 9 parts. I've never taken the time myself, but someday.

OfflineYoutube is a beautiful place. Here's my argument for seeing the movie: you are literally watching the Beatles make music together! You're also seeing a band disintegrate, but if you've ever wondered what it was like seeing the four of them make these songs, at least check out the youtube video of Paul and John singing Two of Us together near the end, it's magical.

Ah, good old YouTube! So I can watch them self-destruct for free then!
I honestly think that's going to be #43 on my to-do list. #1 is to eventually make a to-do list.

OfflineJust check it out, it's pretty funny to see the people's reactions on the street. They don't cheer, they don't scream, they just stare because no one has any idea what's going on. No one is really upset, even the police aren't really upset but they have to end the concert, but it's just awesome to see those guys playing together.

So you guys haven't seen the rooftop performance either? It's the one concert where you can actually hear the group without a screaming wall of sound from the crowd and they really do sound pretty fantastic.
Frick.
You're right…
Who am I kidding – is it $150 VHS fantasic?

OfflineYou all are talking about watching Let It Be right? I have it on DVD, is it hard to get? Maybe about ten years ago I got 8 Beatles DVDs on eBay (The Beatles with Tony Sheridan, AHDN, YS, MMT, The Beatles The First U.S. Visit, The Japanese Concert 1966, Platinum Collection, and Let it Be) for a little less then $50. I know they weren't as popular 10 years ago but I would imagine you could get Let It Be on DVD fairly easy?

OfflineAny DVD copies of Let It Be (including yours!) are bootlegs, I believe!
Ironic thing about that rooftop concert: One of the factors which led to the Beatles abandoning live performance in the first place was their inability to obtain sufficient amplification to make themselves loud enough to be heard. And then on the rooftop, the bobbies make them stop because they're TOO loud!

OfflineYeah I was just looking at it again, that makes since. It does look pretty legitimate but I agree with you. Aww my teenaged self from 2001 is disappointed.
Anyways…. It is a good movie you basically watch George be crotchety and Yoko follow John all over the studio. The rooftop scene is the best though. I tried to show it to my middle schoolers I was subbing for and none of them were interested, even the big Beatles fans. I enjoyed it a lot though.

OfflineOk someone else needs to watch the movie so we can analyze it. It's up there in the link, you can watch the whole thing in 9 parts, so get your good headphones on and give it a shot.
Three main things that stand out to me from the movie, and a few have to do with Ringo…
well sort of.
1. When George is helping Ringo on the piano with Octopus's Garden, he smiles at John as he's passing but immediately puts his head down when Yoko passes him and doesn't even acknowledge her. Certainly not an accepting gesture George.
2. Right after that when John gets on the drums and they are all having fun playing Octopus's Garden, everything stops the second Paul enters the room. You could cut the tension with a knife.
3. Paul's unwillingness to listen to anything John has to say, his boredom with Across the Universe. But also John's boredom with Maxwell's Silver Hammer and the Long and Winding Road. If there is one still from the movie that sums the entire thing up, it would be when Paul pulls his hair back when he is trying to play the Long and Winding Road.
You guys should just watch it, there's nothing to be scared of, you won't hate them after viewing the movie, you'll see that they were real people with real problems. At least it's an interesting watch.

OfflineOne point that I always think of when I think about the movie is when George keeps getting shocked by the microphone and how salty you see him get. Yeah it is a good one, people shouldn't be scared, if anything you are reassured on your feelings of Yoko. Literally John will get up from sitting on a bench walk 5 feet and Yoko will follow him.
