I was listening to The Ballad of John and Yoko… and I don't get why they were looking for a place to get married. Was it because of the notice you have to give before marrying? two-virgins

Remember that this was shortly after Paul and Linda's marriage. John and Yoko wanted a more private affair, which they would not get in the UK. They tried to get married on a boat, but couldn't, and couldn't marry in France (it didn't help that they forgot their passports- "the man in the mack said "you've got to go back"". Lennon being a British citizen, they could marry in the bit of Spain we own.
