OfflineHi everyone,
We all know about the ejection of John and Harry Nilsson from the Troubadour club in Los Angeles in 1974 as one of the worst incidents in John's career, but I didn't know about it from the Smothers Brothers' perspective until just recently.
Was especially interested because Tommy Smothers played on Give Peace a Chance and because the film of Hey Jude showed on the Smothers Brothers classic cancelled TV show.
What I found out was that, obnoxious as John was, the incident at the Troubadour was a little more complex than what we've been led to believe. His behavior was terrible but it doesn't appear to have been malicious based on what the Brothers remember.
For the record neither Smothers brother appeared to hold a grudge over it.
