Personally, I love this. But, these won't be the first letters of a famous person I will have read. But I agree with Zig. He knew they would be read.

Amen Joe! I am excited to read these letters, too, because I find that John is so contradictory in interviews, it's hard to figure out anything about him (other than the fact that he is contradictory). I can't wait to see into John's mind via his letters. I hope they don't cut out too much that could give us insight into him as a person.

Personally, I cannot wait. I don't care if Yoko makes money off this book - at least I'll get to read it.

Would I want someone reading my private letters? Well, probably not. But if I was John Lennon I'd expect them to be republished at some point. He knew what was going on; The Beatles were aware enough to know that everything they did was documented. And it's not like a free-for-all either. They're being edited by Hunter Davies, who's a safe pair of hands.

As a Lennon-ite I look forward to reading the letters and have no qualms. I am also a Yoko-ite (?) and I can't believe she would have done a thing like that without very careful consideration about eventual consequences. She's not one for scandal for scandal's sake.

I think it's only natural we all could access to the inner, most personal feelings of famous people.

Being famous and rich is some kind of transaction: we commoners give them our money, they give us their entire life, and a microscope.

I think it was personal, considering the fact that he wrote it to someone, not everyone. Would you want someone knowing your inner, most personal feelings? I know I might read them, so I shouldn't talk, but still.
