This song is one of the top two most heard songs on my Beatles + Elvis iPod (I had to move Elvis to the Beatles iPod because I ran out of room on my other one). I think it might be John’s best song, and certainly one of the best love songs I know.

It is so upbeat and optimistic, while at the same time displaying vulnerability and emotional need. What a simple and elegant way of showing love in a song. I love the line, “sitting on a cloud, I Call Your Name .” It lifts the song from the mundane (where the rest of the song exists) into the level of the imagination, showing that wherever he is, he needs Yoko. I can relate to that need. At the same time, the line “my love will turn you on” is very confident. The upbeat music has a happy quality that I think shows the inspiration John receives from Yoko.

Personally i’ve always found it a weak filler and a poor album closer. Same can be read for Dear Yoko. I guess its bright and the ending is ok when the harmonica kicks in.

I feel that way about Dear Yoko, but Oh, Yoko! is one of the strongest tracks on that album. I would say Imagine and Oh, Yoko! are the best songs, followed by Oh My Love and Jealous Guy . Crippled Inside is good. The rest is filler.

I love “Oh, Yoko!” it’s such a happy upbeat tune, it lifts me up whenever I’m Down :)

Although some person did tell me a dirty meaning behind it that is best reserved for the 50 Shade of Beatles Bible thread.

Great now I’ve got it in my head, thanks a lot a-hard-days-night-george-10

I like “Oh Yoko”. A nice little effortless cheerful throwaway, probably the happiest moment on a pretty uneven record. Great harmonica playing – was this the last time he really whipped it out?

I have no idea what “Dear Yoko” even sounds like, that’s how little I think about that album.

You don’t like “How Do You Sleep?” or “Gimme Some Truth ” at all, ExTex?

To be fair Imagine is not as good an album as some claim it to be. A few very good tracks surrounded by very average materia, I Don’t Want To Be A Soldier being the weakest of all as it lasts for years and the lyrics are dreadful. So Oh Yoko isn’t the worst.

I don’t really like How Do You Sleep. It’s not a very interesting song and I can’t get past its spitefulness. Gimme Some Truth is probably the best of the rest of the album, but I find it too repetitive, sort of in the same vein as I Don’t Want to Be a Soldier. It also comes off as a bit too preachy, even though I agree with the sermon.

I give it the thumbs up.

It’s part of the “songs for Beatle wives” theme.  Of course this doesn’t compare with “Layla” but enjoyable nonetheless.

Agreed, “Soldier” is the worst. “How” is pretty inconsequential too.

I rate the album as 7/10 myself.

To me, this song is a perfect example of a bouncy pop-ish tune done right. Almost too catchy for its own good.

…and now it’s stuck in my head. Time to queue it up in my mp3 player. yoko-ono_01

Count me among those who really like this song. I always found it to be a very happy song.

It’s So Hard ” is my favorite track on this fantastic album – my favorite post-Beatles Lennon track overall. Some peoples’ “filler” is another man’s gold.a-hard-days-night-john-1

I found this song extremely weak for a while. I personally (and it seems I’m the only one with this opinion) prefer Dear Yoko to it. That being said, it’s grown on me considerably, but I still think it’s too long and it’s not really a good closer. Then again, My Mummy’s Dead and Ya Ya aren’t particularly stellar closers either (though the latter is still pretty fun.) Both kind of kill the epicness of the previous song. I actually really enjoy How?, and I’d say it would have been a better closer than this. Before I repeat myself TOO much though, I’ll just say that I like this song but find it weaker than some of the other songs on the album. I do appreciate it as one of John’s brightest, happiest songs.

Interesting comment depending on which of the above songs you’re referring to.

^Referring to “Oh Yoko!”… @Into the Sky with Diamonds I probably should have been more clear about that, it was one of my last posts before I went to bed. Unless there’s an implied meaning I’m still not getting.ahdn_paul_01
