Well, when I said Yoko was calling attention to herself, it was more of a general "that's what she's always done" statement. As for the whole gun violence thing, I don't want to get into a political debate on here when we're here to discuss Beatles, so I'll agree to hold my tongue and not rebut your post, mja6758. My issue wasn't with her posting what she did...it was that she tweeted it 7 or 8 times in a row. And the White House retweeting it...they have a clear agenda so that's no surprise. If anything, that impresses me less ...

She was contributing to the post-Sandy Hook gun debate. The White House retweeted it. I see nothing wrong, as I said above, with Yoko ramming home the message as bluntly as possible, that we - and she - lost John in a pointless and bloody act that was committed by a man with mental health issues and a legally held weapon. Many more times people have died from gun violence on America's shores than in their foreign wars since we lost John. There are just those who will always say anything Yoko does is about Yoko, while ignoring what she ...

Mmm, I really can't see how assembling a video full of some of the last-ever John Lennon footage (mostly walking with Yoko through Central Park, I believe) and releasing it to the media as a kind of farewell tribute is supposed to be interpreted as a "look at me" gesture from Yoko. Unless you're referring to the choice of song used and finding something selfish in the selection of a song written for the woman herself. I suppose "Watching the Wheels" would've called less inadvertent attention to Yoko herself as far as that goes, if that's what you meant.

Actually, no. The majority of photojournalists - the ones who bring you the daily news, covering breaking stories, doing portraits of ordinary newsmakers, press conferences, risking their lives in war-torn areas - are unsung heroes. They're not doing glamorous work. It's just unfortunate that the minority of paparazzi-types are the ones that stand out in your perception.
