If anyone has a spare twenty or so minutes, I found these gems on youtube of how I'm Stepping Out and Real Love were written. I know we have a few aspiring songwriters here, so I think it's nice to see another songwriters perspective, especially when that songwriter is, well, John Lennon. I like how John didn't rush the process and I really think it's a shame that he didn't get a chance to truly finish off either of these songs, but oh well.

That's really cool! It's interesting to see how he builds the songs up out of single parts, and how these bits change from time to time.

I've always liked John's "middle eight" contributions to his own or other Beatles songs and I think this video shows how he came up with some of those ideas. It always seems difficult to not put together an entire thing at one time, but I like how John shows us that there doesn't need to be any rush and you can build a song out of seemingly unrelated parts.

I like how Paul did that too, like on Band on the Run. I wonder if there are any videos of how Paul put together his songs…are there any lost McCartney tapes? Let's see.
