Been away to the Isle of Wight for a few days but now I'm back again. The first song is the b-side to "She Loves You", also on "Past Masters", and is called "I'll Get You".

I've already noticed before since I heard The Beatles first before John Lennon. Lots of stuff were "re-used" by the Beatles like diamond ring, see how they run and etc.

"Free As A Bird" always reminded me a bit of "Sleepwalk" by Santo & Johnny.

But back to the topic at hand, it wasn't totally unknown for John to pilfer from himself.

"I Feel Fine" became "Day Tripper" and the chord progression in "It's Only Love" became "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite". "I'm A Loser" and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" both share the G-D-F-G bit too, though the latter adds more onto it.

The "Living is easy with eyes closed..." bit in "Strawberry Fields Forever" is also similar to the "But I know you won't leave me 'cause ...

It was pointed out in a book i read a few years ago, might have been The Complete Guide to music of the Beatles by John Robertson but i'd have to check. (Edit: No it wasnt, it is mentioned in 'A Hard Day's Write' by Steve Turner)

John was always 'borrowing' lines from elsewhere as did everyone else for example George from James Taylor (Something In The Way She Moves ) and The Merseys (Sorrow).
