OfflineHi all .. I've been away for ages, I know
.. but just to let you know I gave an adapted version of my John Lennon lecture to some 15 year olds in a school last Saturday and it went very well.
They were surprisingly knowledgeable about JL (with a few clichés too!), which was good to hear.
We listend to just a half a dozen songs and I was quite overcome when they all joined in with Merry Xmas (War is Over)!

I wish there was a John Lennon lecture over here. No one knows who he is except me and my friend. (I'm 13, so I meant people my age don't know.)
These kids knew stuff like "he was in The Beatles" and "he was married to Yoko Ono" and "he's dead" . .which was fair enough. Of course I had to educate them on some of the finer points without going into too much detail.
They seem quite taken by the 'bed peace' idea!
Someone asked me if we could listen to "Let it Be", but I had to say . .er, no .. not really a JL song!

Did you go into things Pre-Beatlemania? Like Stuart, and Julia?
Not so much in this particular talk, although I did mention JL's traumatic family issues as a small child. I showed them the bit from Nowhere Boy where they are recording In Spite of All the Danger, where John is obviously in anguish and there are 'flashbacks' of him dancing with Julia.
I went more into this aspect, and Stuart, in the original talk I did last year which was more adult orientated. Most people didn't know about these aspects of JL's life.
