I came across this video this morning on youtube, which says that Ch*pman was in the audience and is duly pointed out. Anyone know if this really is him?

Also when does this performance date from? It says 1980, but John isn't looking very 1980-ish to me…

Imagine – 1980

(how does one insert a youtube vid in a post btw?)

That’s the first time I’ve seen that video. I don’t think the guy in the audience looks anything like him. Either way, the guy was definitely not impressed with John's ad-libbed line about immigration. Did you see him shake his head?

To answer your question about inserting a video…

Joe has posted easy-to-follow instructions on how to insert pics or vids here. Once you get to the that page, look for the topic you need help with.

Hope that helps!

No worries – I just sent you a PM that may be helpful. Meanwhile, links to vids like the one you posted above (#82) are never a problem.

It appears that this video does not want to cooperate. Either that or there is a temporary glitch within the site today. It happens from time-to-time and does not last long.

Once Joe sees this, he will look into it for us.

Cheers!

OK, it looks like the code for videos is broken. I’ll see what I can do. Sorry.

EDIT there is a fix of sorts, but I have to upgrade the forum. Bear with me – there may be a bit of downtime…

By the way, in the light of what is being said on the Plastic Ono Band album thread i thought I'd publish the whole playlist I went through in my talk… and yes, from”I'm a Loser” (Dylan inspired?) there is definitely a thread of just a touch of melancholy in his songwritings!

PLAYLIST:

  1. That’ll Be the Day / In Spite Of All The Danger (first recordings)
  2. Hello Little Girl  (Decca session) (first song written and recorded)
  3. Please Please Me
  4. She Loves You (Ed Sullivan Show)
  5. A Hard Day’s Night
  6. I’m a Loser
  7. Help !/ Ticket To Ride / You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away
  8. In My Life
  9. Tomorrow Never Knows
  10. Strawberry Fields Forever
  11. A Day In The Life
  12. All You Need Is Love
  13. Julia
  14. Revolution
  15. Revolution no. 9
  16. Ballad of John & Yoko
  17. Give Peace A Chance
  18. Instant Karma !
  19. Mother
  20. God
  21. Power To The People
  22. Imagine
  23. Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
  24. New York City
  25. Mind Games
  26. #9 Dream
  27. Be Bop A Lula
  28. (Just Like) Starting Over
  29. Nobody Told Me

Wow.

If I were to make a presentation such as yours, it would be difficult to create a better list. Just looking at your selections, I can envision how your talk would have gone.

Bravo!

Thanks Zig . .and for the apple! Yes it was basically chronological and even without too much dwelling on Beatlemania it lasted for over two hours. I also made up some videos to go with the music.

By the way there's a photo-book out over here today with national daily La Repubblica which I just went out to buy of course! “John Lennon : una rivoluzione in musica“. It's really nice with a soft cover and a preface by Yoko which I haven't read yet.

see it here

The same daily and weekly have been putting the remastered solo albums on sale over the past few weeks. Needless to say I got 'em all!

OK, it wasn't broken at all. Embedding was disabled on that particular video, so it was just displaying the link.

The good people at Simple:Press (the software/plugin that runs this forum) have changed the way it treats YouTube videos. As long as embedding is allowed, just paste the link in a forum message, on its own line, and it should display automagically. No need to use the film strip icon any more. I'll update the help guide.

Apparently this also works with content from the following sites (not tested by me):

  • Vimeo
  • DailyMotion
  • blip.tv
  • Flickr (both videos and images)
  • Viddler
  • Hulu
  • Qik
  • Revision3
  • Scribd
  • Photobucket
  • PollDaddy
  • Google Video
  • WordPress.tv (only VideoPress-type videos for the time being)
  • SmugMug
  • FunnyOrDie.com
