Hello all,
why was Brian Epstein chosen as Julian’s godfather and not, for instance, Paul McCartney ?

@rosefromthegallery Probably because Brian was a few years older than John, while Paul was younger than him.

Julian Lennon was born 8 April, 1963.
Paul McCartney was born 18 June, 1942.
When Julian was born, Paul McCartney was 20 years old.
A Godfather is “… a man arranged to be the legal guardian of a child in case the parents die before [the child reaches] adulthood or the age of maturity.”
Not being versed (at all) in UK law, it still seems safe to assume that a legal guardian would have to be of adult age to be so designated.
Personally, I’d never ask a 20-year old bass player to be my kid’s legal guardian.
