I used to watch a show called Solitary where the contestants were all put in an isolated room and would only be referred to by their room number. The nine contestants have no physical contact with each other yet are able to create judgments on who they are based on how they do in the challenges like gender.

That happens on the forum also exept the judgments are to a greater degree since we have more info.

And speaking of character, that’s all we have to judge each other by on the forum. We don’t know what race you are, how old you are, how tall you are (well there is the height thread), what you dress like, who you do (or don’t) surround yourself with, all we can gather from each others written words are our personalities.

Not true, since how people write and what they write about can show where they are from. There is an equivalent to how people dress on the forum, it is how you dress up your account like your display name, avatar, signature, location and what you have filled out in your bio which you can look at and judge who they are before even reading their post if it wasn’t, then no one would care when people change any of those things. A user named 39457DF97FHSO is gonna be looked at differently than a user with the name Todd. People assume gender based off others posts.

The only way to prevent people from judging each other is to have them never have any contact.

We’d far rather folk have one account when posting as it helps folk know who they are talking to and build and maintain a level of trust in the conversations. In real life you don’t walk out out the room, dress up in different clothes, call yourself another name, and then walk back in pretending to be someone else with no one knowing so why do it here? Its different if someone joins, forgets their log-in details and so starts another account to having two/three/four different accounts each with different user names and avatars trying to make it look like they are all different people. vonbontee’s other account is Von Bontee, not exactly a master disguise.

Another example where Bagism is not applied to the forum environment since people attach people to their names, looks and account. The anonymity is more limited and it makes seance. I don’t think people want others to be words since people have less of a connection (and harder to track down).

I think it is the opposite now a days people are having a harder time not knowing who someone is. I don’t think people can really hide away unless they don’t have contact.

I would hope this means that we are getting further away from exclusion, discrimination, racism, sexism and all the other isms out there as such opinions and beliefs are outed and then challenged and I think in some parts of the world we are very very slowly, but too many are still intent on having at least one group of people kept down.  

Though people want themselves divided to an extent since there are organizations celebrating their race and gender which I doubt will go away any time soon so I think we are never gonna get true bagisum.

Just because anyone can shout their opinion, doesn’t mean people hear or care. We only have so much time to devote to opinions.

People I don’t think want to be fully 100% equal.

Though I think this type of discrimination we would be great without

make an unjust or prejudicial distinction in the treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, sex, or age.

I think that’s a very good example of Bagism.
