Came across this elsewhere its John performing Working Class Hero at the rehearsals for the One to One concerts in MSG in ’72. Ive never heard or seen it before, its got a pretty cool vibe. I think its the only live version of it as well.

Man, Johns voice is incredible.

Why on earth was this ditched for what we got in the end as its far better if not very rough?

Why he didn’t perform it? It is soo good, his voice especially!

Glad you three liked it. I’m the one who posted it on You Tube. I also think John’s voice sounded incredible and think it would have sounded great on stage. But I think it still needed some work. John was famously insecure, so maybe he just felt it needed more time… ?

This is a great clip. Thanks for posting. Is there a boot out there that has this?  Is there an uncensored version?

As far as I know, it’s not on any boot (not yet, at least). It was played about two months ago on the L.A. version of “Breakfast with the Beatles,” and the DJ, Chris Carter, said he got it from a sound engineer who was there that day. Some guy named Joe. That’s all the info he gave.

It was really random… he played it at the end of the show, while Rusty Anderson was the guest in the studio. There was no hype at all until right before he played it. He stressed how extremely rare it was and that it was not on any of the One to One rehearsal boots. I’m just glad I was happening to be listening at the time!

Does anyone else think this song sounds like Dylan’s Masters of War?

While there are obvious similarities between WCH and Dylan’s work in 1962-1963, @TheWalrusWasBrian, I wouldn’t connect it specifically to Masters of War myself.

Are there any specific parts/aspects you could point to?

Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns

A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

These two parts sound similar to me, but that might just be me.
