I really love Since My Baby Left Me on this album, with the chorus of people singing along. Does anyone know who they are? Is this from the Spector sessions?

I ordered this cd for myself as a Christmas present. I can’t wait to give it a listen when it arrives.

@Expert Textpert Since My Baby Left Me does date from the Spector sessions. The backing singers are probably made up of those involved in the session, though the prominent female vocal always toward the front is probably May Pang, as she is credited as a backing vocalist on the track.

Thanks, Ron. I think you’ll enjoy it, Ahhh Girl. It’s mainly just a CD of outtakes but I find myself going back to it again and again. The song co-written by Phil Spector is pretty good, too.

I really like Here We Go Again, the only Lennon-Spector song. Those horns in particular really make it work.

Maybe this album is one of the examples where the songs should be placed on their related albums as bonus tracks and the album deleted for all eternity as its not seen a re-release or remaster since 1986. Looking at wiki three tracks (‘Rock and Roll People’, ‘Angel Baby’, ‘Since My Baby Left Me’) were added to the 2004 ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll ‘ reissue but were omitted from the 2010 release.

Yeah agreed, those are exactly the sort of leftovers that should be added as bonus tracks to reissues, rather than left to rot unnoticed on dodgy ’80s collections with ugly album cover art. Maybe we need a John Lennon reissues program to take us into the 21st century

Listening to this thru the magic of a playlist and I’m left wondering who on earth selected the cuts from ‘Walls And Bridges ‘ and why on earth anyone thought they were worth hearing. They are clearly either rehearsals or very early takes and John and the band sound bored, all five are lacking all traces of energy or enthusiasm and it’s not a surprise that Yoko has buried all traces of their existence on subsequent releases.

The selections from the ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll ‘ sessions and the sole ‘Mind Games ‘ outtake are far better; ‘Since My Baby Left Me’ being a notable highlight.

I like some of those outtakes. Nobody Loves You is a good one.

I was lucky enough to be able to buy this album on vinyl. I really like Here We Go Again and Rock And Roll People. Really great songs.

I know people call it overproduced, but Here We Go Again is a favorite of mine. I like the atmosphere it has. “And nobody wants to hold your hand.” A cynical and poignant throwback to his Beatles days that means so much, considering he didn’t like doing that kind of thing at all.
