I come bearing another boo-boo which I think was mentioned by a couple of members a while back.

After going on 2-3 pages on the forum, the forum logs me off. T'is ever so slightly annoying

I think the 'refresh button' is getting the most action it has ever had

This is merely just a weird thing, when someone posted an @Ahhh Girl earlier, in the new and recently undated posts glimpse of it, it was showing up her previous name - even though it hadn't been typed in!

Ahhh, I actually know what's up with that. Have you ever tried to change your name? You can change your display name, but not your login name, which is stuck at its original name. So, AG changed her display name to Ahhh Girl, but her login is stuck at cbatcu forever. I tried to @ parlance earlier, and it confused me, because it said parlance1, which must have been her original login name. So, when you type an @, it suggests the original name alongside the display name, and I guess on the new/updated list, it doesn't use the current name.

Any way you could go back where there's no caching on the home page when you're logged in? That's my primary "new posts" thing for short periods of time. If you can't, that's OK, it's just if you can do it easily, I'd like it. Thanks again

Caching is off completely at the moment. Are things any better? Homepage and recently/updated dropdown?

That's exactly right. Here's the slightly geeky explanation: when people register, it adds a user account to my WordPress database (WP is how this entire site works, when it works). These usernames can't be changed. Simple Press is the forum add-on, and it has access to the user database. People can change their forum display name - essentially masking the WP one. However, the @ mentions seem to only be able to access the WP database, not the SP overlay. I'll flag it up to the SP devs to see if they can do anything about it.

Thanks for all the other bugs - I'll get those reported.

It does seem wrong. It definitely is wrong. However, I haven't a clue what in your browser or operating system might be causing that to happen.

I'm typing on Win7 on Chrome and it looks fine to me. If you want to come to Cardiff and bring your computer for me to look at I'd be happy to do so (sorry, we can't accommodate guests). Otherwise I don't think I can help.

Pages are getting stuck when loading with messages in the bottom corner saying "waiting for beatlesbible.com" or "waiting for . . . (shove in a third party otherwhere else place name". Hang for an age and the only way i can get rid is closing said page, leaving the forum and then coming back. Using Windows 7 and Chrome, in case that is required.

Regarding the cache being turned off, yes everything related to that seems fine to me. When one part is fixed another plays up.

This might've been the wrong thread for it, since it wasn't really a serious problem, it only happened the one time, haven't had that kind of problem since. Thanks though

No it's not. Nothing on this site is currently being cached by my server. If anything's being stored it's on your browser/computer.

When I insert a link, I now get a pop-up that says I have to add http to the url. Is that something new with the changes you've made (that's when I started getting the pop-up), or could that be operator error on my part?

EDIT: It happens when I copy and paste a url.

Probably not related, but it's about PM's: when I'm on the phone, I can't respond to PMs because the "send private message" button has disappeared. I can read PM's, I can type out responses, but I can't send them.

So not just me then. ahdn_paul_01

I mentioned in the forum changes thread that I've enabled a mobile-friendly theme for phones (not tablets unless people report problems). The buttons looks slightly different and might take a while to get used to, but you should be able to send PMs now. I just sent a test message using my phone (Nexus 4/KitKat/Chrome).

After typing your message look for the envelope icon with an upwards arrow - that's the send button.

I haven't changed anything, but it's a good idea to include http:// at the start. It says it's a required thing, so I guess it has trouble parsing external (non-beatlesbible.com) links without it.

I've seen examples before where, when http:// isn't included, it tries to append the external link on the end of the current page, eg www.beatlesbible.com/forum/getting-better/weird-things-happening-with-the-forum/page-18/www.google.com.

The up arrow by each post that gets you back to the top of a page has disappeared for me on my phone. Just an fyi.

No biggie, but the birthday thing for me still says upcoming, but it's today.

Also, the @ thing didn't put up a notification until I quoted myself in my response to Ahhh Girl.

Well happy birthday then! I don't know what's up with the notification. Let's see if it vanishes tomorrow.

Not sure that can be brought back unless I ditch the mobile theme. My guess is it was removed to avoid the pages becoming too cluttered on small screens. I think we'll just have to scroll up on mobile.
