On forum index page, lots of last posts appear to be coming up wrong. For instance, under “Happy Birthday , George” it says the last post was Joe’s 314 from this thread!

I noticed that too!
Also, I can’t send PM’s anymore for some reason. I had sent one yesterday but it didn’t arrive and all of a sudden I had 2 unread PM’s. I haven’t read back in this thread really well, only globally but I think that might have to do with the problems Joe mentioned?
Noticed the posts that went missing too. I saw a post this afternoon when the forum was readable only, and when I just came back and looked it was gone.

I’ve reported it to Simple:Press. Someone else on their support forum had had the same problems, but it looked like a one-off. Hopefully I can give them some more info which will help isolate what’s causing it. At least it’s a known problem.

I edited my message 314 to say…In other news, on the forum homepage you might notice that the sections are all awry, including the albums sub-forums. That’s why I had to backup earlier. It’s not my fault, honest, it’s a bug, but I’ll try to get it sorted out.
Sorry too to megopop09 – I didn’t mean that to happen. I genuinely don’t know what happened there. Obviously restoring a backup isn’t a decision to take lightly, but I didn’t anticipate anything being lost either.
Don’t Worry, things like this happen. It’s no big deal for me.

It was probably related to the backup restore. Note to self: don’t restore from a backup unless things get really serious.

Offline In other news, I’m going to get to work with all the forum issues and try to get them fixed once and for all.
To save me going back through 17 pages of woe*, can people please summarise things here? I’ve got:
- Forum front page all out of order
- PMs going missing
- That weird PHP code that sometimes appears when trying to post a message
- Messages appearing to be posted by someone other than the author
- Missing buttons on mobile devices
Have I missed anything? Are there still issues with latest/unread messages not being correct?
*If I ever write my autobiography this will be the title.

Offline That’s what I was referring to above, and it’s appears sorted.
I would say the caching and navigation of the site is still an issue.
I am being taken to the top of pages, instead of the post I have pressed on to access, it will display a cached version of the page (logged in or out), and I will need to refresh to get the latest version. Pressing “fab forum” to go back to main page, it will show me as logged out because it takes me to a cached version, refresh and it show me logged in again. Virtually every time I change page I have to load twice to get the current version.

Offline OK. Sitewide caching is off, and I’ll leave it off for the time being (maybe the next 24 hours). Can you tell me if any of this has been fixed?
Edit: I think some things might be cached by my server, by something my hosts put in place. That’s my next plan of attack.
Edit 2 (note to self): Forums > Options > Global Settings > disabled combining/caching of CSS/JS. I think that was causing some login issues.
Edit 3: re-enabled sitewide caching, but not for the forum. I think Edit 2 is the cause of at least some of these issues, but I’d only just spotted the option. If by any chance it fixes the PM problems can someone please let me know?

Offline Oh, and the page routinely doesn’t go all the way down when it loads, even when I reload it. I normally have to go back a page on that thread, then back to that page.
EDIT: The main home page of the site From The Forum section is cached way back. Just so you know. I made sure I was logged in, too.
EDIT: Actually, it’s only about 5 minutes back. None of the posts I just made showed up, though

Offline The front page of the forum is *mostly* back to normal. I still can’t get the individual album sections back where they belong, so for now they’re stuck in “Non-Beatles discussions”. Obviously that’s far from ideal so bear with me.
