Okay, I've completely no idea of copyright laws (what's more, US/UK copyright laws), but I thought some "reasonable" amount of material used would've been protected under fair use. I think using low resolution of album covers, for examples, in covered under fair use. At least that's the justification of them appearing on Wikipedia.

But whatever the case, I hope Apple won't go on a copyright rampage!

Strictly speaking, pretty much everything to do with The Beatles is copyrighted - including my avatar, your avatar, the album covers, song lyrics, photographs of the group, pictures of box sets and much else.

It's a question of context, I think. If people just republish copyrighted material, then there's a danger of it being devalued. However, if site owners add value, drive sales and increase people's interest in the group (which is all I've tried to do here) then there's a clear reciprocal value for Apple Corps. For example, the Amazon ads with the cover artwork on it are technically infringing ...

I see. That's rather... draconian of Apple to shut down lyrics site, considering that a set of lyrics will help some listeners like me to appreciate the songs more (because I have difficulties in picking out the words from songs, for some reasons). And seeing so many sites hosting lyrics, I thought it'd be okay to post lyrics even though in the strictest sense there are copyright infringement in doing so.

But ah well, better be on the safe side. In any case, the lyrics can be found anywhere, but such detailed information on the Beatles can only be found here!

Hi Jackson. Thanks for your kind words. I'm the person behind the site - it's only me, not a team of us!

I'd love to add the lyrics, but I'm fearful of being shut down by Apple Corps (hence the disclaimer at the foot of this page). This 2002 story in particular put me off:
http://www.sptimes.com/2002/08....._t_w.shtml
http://fab4lyrics.stonegauge.c...../about.htm - the replacement site (it didn't really stop him, evidently).

I've put quite a bit of work into this site, and the last thing I want is to get on the wrong side of Apple. In honesty, ...

First of all, let me express my greatest appreciation to the people behind this site. It is a treasure-trove of information for anything regarding the Beatles!

But if there're anything that ought to be here and are not, it has gotta be the lyrics for the songs. I'm not sure if there are any restrictions to putting them up here: redundancy (because there are already so many sites hosting lyrics?), lack of manpower or copyright issues. But somehow, without the lyrics the site appears to be incomplete to me.
