OfflineCool. Thanks Joe for the speedy service.
And the 1965 pics at the very top look fabulous – if they are still there, its great how those pics change.
For those interested, we're going to get topic splitting/merging soon, and the ability to add polls to posts. This is a good thing. Should work better on touchscreens too, according to the forum software devs: http://simple-press.com/5-1-st…..-update-5/

OfflineNo idea where this should go but it fits here so there here it is.
No idea if its been reported elsewhere but the quote thingy isnt working properly in places, just lumps everything together without actually highlighting that its a quote. Done it manually when replying in the Let It Be thread.

Testing
EDIT – does that look wrong to you? It has a box around the quoted text – seems clear enough to me.

OfflineThat one worked fine. Its seemed to be in relation to certain posters and trying to quote them, Into The Sky's posts were the main casualty of this. It seems to be an irregular error and i have no idea how it could be replicated and repaired – if it hasnt been already.
Thanks for your work in all of these bits and pieces of the site Joe.
I discovered I could create sub-forums, so I've made them for each of the key albums, plus the Anthologies, Love and Live At The BBC. It'll hopefully save anyone creating any more of those "what's your favourite song on x album" threads, of which there are many.
I can create more sub-forums if people think they'd be useful, for example each of John/Paul/George/Ringo's solo albums. I'm not sure whether it'd be useful though.
I don't to overload the forum with sub-sections because it might become harder to navigate (for example if there were a sub-forum for every Beatles song), but I'm all in favour of making things work in a more navigable way. Let me know what you think.

OfflineI had to re-enable the spam filter as we were getting quite a few rogue registrations. It sometimes catches false positives – ie legitimate messages are sometimes held as spam. If this happens to you don't worry, I'll approve it as soon as I can (and sorry for the inconvenience).

Hell… It's 2013. He should be amazed that these forums still exist at all. These things are ghosts of the old internet.
It got me thinking about the way conversations online are happening. A lot of sites use social logins, and most people seem to have Facebook, Twitter etc accounts. So I've signed up with a third-party service that allows up to six different account logins for the forum, in addition to the normal registration/sign-in. So, more options to encourage people to join in.
The current services are Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo!, Blogger, Google+ and Disqus (the last two might not be immediately invisible). That should cover most people.
It took a bit of head-scratching, and involved signing up for developer accounts, dealing with API keys etc. I've tested it with Twitter and it seems to work, but if you use the others and spot a problem please let me know.
Note that when you log in via Twitter, you have to authorise the Beatles Bible. It says: "This application will be able to:
- Read Tweets from your timeline.
- See who you follow, and follow new people.
- Update your profile.
- Post Tweets for you."
As far as I can tell this is a formality, and nothing will get posted/read that you don't do yourself. But *please* let me know if anything looks dodgy. I really don't want to piss people off by doing anything unwanted.

OfflineCheck you out, Joe… Impressive.
I appreciate that you didn't take my comment as an insult. These types of forums really are a throwback to pre-2003 internet, so it's nice that you're aware that linking them to newer social-media sites is important to keep them relevant.
I know it's a different platform (and I'm not too knowledgeable about this sort of thing) but if there was any way to integrate with Tumblr at all, that would be my focus.
I can only add six login options, so I don't know what I'd lose. I did think about adding Tumblr, but it seems like more of a blogging platform, whereas the others (apart from Blogger, obviously) are more about engagement and interaction. Obviously if the demand is there I can swap things around. It's more worth me focusing on the logins/IDs that people are happy to carry around from site to site.
Nah, no insult taken. I got the point you were making. Message boards have been around for ages, but they still have life in them. You only need to look at a site like Reddit to see the demand's still there if the community is good enough.
