If we need a moderator and there’s someone I think might be a good fit, I invite them. Normally I look for someone that nobody is likely to have a beef with, and who is likely to keep their heads when there’s a storm brewing. A safe pair of hands, someone who doesn’t dive headfirst into an argument or get trigger-happy with the delete key. But it’s not an exact science or a democracy and not everyone gets a go. I’m not looking for any new mods so please don’t submit your CVs!

You should get an email sent to the address you used to create your BB account when someone sends you a PM. The default in your profile is for you to get the email notice. Make sure you haven’t turned that option off.

As for doing the job well i have already deleted a 42 page thread. Start badly and improve – that way when you mess up again it doesnt come as such a shock to everyone.

Hello everyone. The mods have been discussing a clean-up of the forum. We’re concerned that it’s becoming less of a Beatles forum, and more of a free-for-all with some Beatles stuff thrown in here and there.
We’ll discuss it in more detail elsewhere (once we’ve firmed up a plan). In the meantime we’ll be doing a bit of summer cleaning.
I know changes bring questions and some discomfort (i just dealt with that in how we are going to conduct our work conference next year). Joe and the mods will be thinking this all through in the next few weeks. My PM box is open for constructive thoughts if you feel like there is something you want to run past me before posting it out on the forum. No guarantees or promises about what we will end up deciding. And, of course, no favoritism will be shown. Heck, Joe and the mods aren’t even all in agreement about what goes and what stays, but we are working through it.
