From previous thread I believe only Joe can delete accounts and isn't that keen on doing so so its very unlikely to happen, however if an account was deleted then all posts would naturally go.

I think if an account gets deleted all posts show up as by a guest. It's another weird anomaly of the forum. That's how it used to be anyway - I haven't deleted anyone for a few years.

IveJustSeenAFaceo said
Anyway we could use the same thing for deleting as is in place for editing, where you can only delete before someone responds? I've made posts that I immediately regretted, so if I could still delete those, but not ones that had been replied to, that'd be good.

Just edit it to say something like "Posted in error - mods please delete" and we'll do so.

The options I have are (relevant ones in bold):

Editing

  • Can edit own topic titles
  • Can edit any topic title
  • Can edit own posts forever
  • Can edit own posts until there has been a reply
  • Can edit any post

Deleting

  • Can delete topics in forum
  • Can delete own posts
  • Can delete any post

The only one enabled was "Can edit own posts until there has been a reply". However, I've just changed it so people can continue to edit their posts. If individual people start causing problems I'll restrict their access on an individual basis. Hope that's OK with everyone.

Ok, @Joe, sorry that I sent you a pm before finding this more appropriate place for the issue.

Re: Site Updates around 22/5/14 - On firefox only, the scroll isn't working.  The scrollbar takes up the entire length of the page, indicating that it doesn't think there's anywhere to scroll down to.  It's a recent version of firefox, not sure if it's totally up to date but within a month or so.  Oh yeah, windows 7.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one having this problem?

Thanks for any insight...

Hi Matt, I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 7 and it's working ok - if that helps at all? I got this new version of Firefox in the last couple of weeks.

Hi Matt, I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 7 and it's working ok - if that helps at all? I got this new version of Firefox in the last couple of weeks.

I finally learned how to use this version - it's 29.0.1.  However, I got home tonight and things are looking much better.  There are some minor formatting changes, but almost everything seems to be working.  Who knows...my computer had a hard crash in between, you know 'windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer'...but it came up ok.  point being, maybe firefox had a runaway process...or some odd glitch.

The one thing (that i've tried) that is still giving me problems is when i 'list topics i'm watching', and the boxed list comes up, but when i scroll down and select one (it was this one in fact) it just flipped me back to the top of the page in the window...didn't select the topic.  I'll be at that festival most of tomorrow but come Monday I'll see if it's still happening.

Half of what I say is meaningless...

A bit of a change on the moderator front. @fabfouremily hasn't been able to visit the forum recently, and has a whole heap of stuff coming up in real life, so she's stepping down as a moderator. Sincere thanks to her for some great contributions to the forum. I've left the door wide open in case she's ever able to come back.

I didn't want @Ahhh Girl and @Zig to feel overburdened so I invited @meanmistermustard into the fold as well. He'll shortly be receiving his special Beatles Bible Moderator helmet and gauntlet set, which we have to wear at all times. Those gauntlets are a right bastard to type with but he'll get used to it once the blisters go down.

The more beady-eyed among you may have noticed this has shaken up the Top Posters stats. I've requested (from Simple Press) that moderators be included in the Top Posters section. The mods are currently listed in a separate area, but I can't see why they aren't in the top list as well.

Anyway, please be upstanding for @fabfouremily and @meanmistermustard for all their help past and future.

Damn. I never thought of that!. Top Poster gone!! The things we sacrifice.

The speech (just skip this rambling gibberish).

Thanks to Joe for the trust and opportunity, its quite something to be a mod on this site. Hopefully i can be as beneficial to the site as Zig and AG are.

Thanks for all the kind words from everyone. I just hope i can be as good as @fabfouremily was, i would rather have her doing this than me - and when she returns i will happily step down if she wants it back (i want that in print).

And finally i can get off this damn overcrowded roof and into the warmth. 3 years up here i've been!! 3 years!!!

Mods are now in the Top Posters list (but not me, as an administrator, but that's OK).

(Edit: they *might* be in the list. It seems to be behaving a bit oddly, but hopefully it'll settle down in time. I'll keep an eye on it.)

I don't think there's a way to include mods in the Apple Rooftop ranking as well. It's all very complicated trying to get the profile templates configured correctly, so I'll not spend any more time on it. I have given the mods a shiny badge though. @Zig @Ahhh Girl @meanmistermustard

Thanks for the badge, Joe!

I guess my Top Posters section hasn't updated or some computer-y thing like that. I don't see mustard, Zig, and myself in the list.

Sadly, I didn't get the notification for the @ you put for me in post 191.

The list has updated and i've got a shiny badge. Sweet!

Don't you get a badge or something Joe. Surely you can wangle yourself some trophy or shield.

I never got a notification either by the way @Joe, @Ahhh Girl.

@Ahhh Girl It's supposed to update every hour, but I can force it to do so early by running a script. It was working, then it seemed to reset back to the non-mods list. I'll give it 24 hours and if it doesn't work consistently I'll do some rummaging under the hood.

Not sure about the @mentions not notifying people. Maybe it's because I added them in an edit.

EDIT I know it's resetting to exclude the admins. No need to mention it here, I'm on it.

OK, my list now has us.

I got the two recent notifications from Joe and mmm. It just randomly goes on the blink.

EDIT: I was wondering if notifications worked if you put them in as an edit. @Joe did you get this notification?

After a PM to the man himself, I publicly welcome mmm to the Mod team. Finally, AG will get some help! a-hard-days-night-george-10

Love the badges, Joe. The gauntlets made it difficult to fasten the badge to my suit of armor, but now that it's on, I feel a certain...special...something (CUT THAT OUT, CUT THAT OUT). Fans of The Holy Grail understand.

Congrats, meanmistermustard! a-hard-days-night-ringo-15
