Hi all. If you're a regular here you'll probably have noticed that the design of the forum has changed.
It's an upgrade to a leaner, faster version of Simple:Press, the forum plugin I've been using for a few years. However, this version is still in beta and changes are still being added. Things may be broken. I know nobody likes change but this will be worthwhile in the long run.
I'll do my best to fix what I can, so please bear with me. If anything looks wrong, please report it here.
(NB I know about the "share this" icons below each post. I'll try to remove those now)

Joe, I can't see any different between unread posts and recent posts I've already read. Is it just me, or is that problem for you as well?

I'll look into it. A lot of the functionality is disabled by default, to keep things simple and quick. But it means I might have to upload extra files or tick the right box in the admin area. Anything else like that, do say.

Um, when I click on a thread I haven't read, it takes me to the first page of a thread, whereas it used to take me to the last page of the thread.

Oh I'm glad it works OK on a mobile. This new version, incidentally, will help enormously when I complete the site redesign (still a work in progress, but progress is being made). We're enabling the site to be fully mobile compliant, but the old version of the forum wouldn't play nicely. This should be much more flexible.
I deleted that YouTube test as it was getting in the way a little. Nice to see it worked though.

Dang. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but…bit of a shock to say the least. Only one real complaint about the new format. The "share this page" icon list under every single post is kind of a bother. It'll be great for everyone to be able to mobilely access it though!

As I said in my first post, this is an error that I've reported to the forum developers (as far as I can tell it's a plugin conflict that's beyond my control). I think the Share icons are knocking out some signatures, particularly if people have images. I'll keep an eye on things – bear with me.
EDIT – sharing icons should be gone now. I had to disable them for the forum section, which means they don't appear in the top banner either, but it's no great loss.

Sorry to anyone who tried to post earlier but was stymied by the captcha. I wasn't aware of the issue until I got some PMs. Captchas should be disabled now. The captchas have gone but the only way i can find out what the new posts are is to delete my browser cache whereas before all i had to do before was refresh the page. The number of unread posts updates but the unread message box remains the same. Is there anyway to overcome this without having to go thru that process every time?

Not sure. I'll ask around and see. I didn't realise it was an issue – as an admin I get a slightly different page from normal users. I'm sure you don't have to delete your cache but I'm not quite sure how to get the updates. Let me see.

The "latest posts" list caching looks like a JavaScript conflict somewhere. I'm looking into it.

Thanks Joe for looking in to it, tho am finding the 'Unread and recently updated topics' section of the forum home page to be a fantastic addition to the site and is making the 'Most recent topics with unread posts' to be unneccessary to find the new posts.
The more i use the new look site the better it is. And is far more attractive to the eye. Nice job.
