You think so? I'm not so sure. I reckon Sean would protect the legacy, hopefully more than Yoko has done (ie fewer brazen cash-ins like Lennon-branded harmonicas, coloured-in artwork etc). I can't see Sean selling all the instruments etc kept at the Dakota - he can't need the money.

Ah another Joe! I had forgot about that suit, I would agree with you that it was more important as it featured on an album cover. Not being a devout Beatles fan myself, I didn't even know they originally wore leather jackets until I started working here.

I agree with you on the point about using "iconic, legendary and seminal", they are completely overused words. However, I think the leather jacket is iconic, as it is an icon of that era of their career. What else encapsulates that era more???

Besides, you try writing more than 4,000 words a day. You'll soon ...

George's sergent pepper jacket would go for a huge sum of money, and I believe it's owned by his estate. I know that Ringo's is displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Paul still has his. Yoko has John's. I would like to see all four jackets displayed in a museum, but sometimes I wonder how much someone would pay for one of them.

I'd say the white suit worn by John Lennon on the cover of Abbey Road is probably more important, as it actually appeared on an album cover. It sold for $46k a couple of years ago. I'm actually slightly surprised George's jacket went for more - it makes the suit seem like a bargain.

(As a side note, I'd love it if people stopped describing musical stuff as iconic, legendary or seminal. So, so overused and misused. Sorry - personal pet hate! Is George's jacket iconic in any real sense?)
