The ‘Dark Horse Years’ DVD was region free so it’s safe to assume this one will be the same.
The Amazon (UK) price is pretty good – I originally ordered it from there at £87:99 but cancellled my order to pre-order it at the lower (current) price of £75:31.

I’m disappointed, no Dark Horse concerts grrrrr!
It looks amazing but it’s €85- I ain’t got that kind of money!
Might buy ATMP (again) purely for the poster But I want Wonderwall and LITMW…. problems
Oh and The Dark Horse Years is coming out again (apparently) pre-order for the cheap price of €130! (We should at least get a free pen thrown in with that!)

Why are they including a 1991 performance of ‘Give Me Love’, don’t they have any decent sounding and looking footage from the ‘Dark Horse ‘ tour which would be more appropriate?

I’m sure they do. They are probably spacing out the releases to maximize the most profit they can make. Some of the footage is in the ‘Living In The Material World ‘ Documentary.

I havent seen the documentary for a while but weren’t the clips used in ‘LITMW’ more highlighting George’s voice was shot? So maybe the footage they have doesn’t do George justice and isnt suitable for a stand alone video. [I can picture George performing ‘What Is Life ‘, whether or not thats correct is another matter.]

His voice was definitely shot but the video quality is excellent. I saw the show in 1974 and his voice was gone but it was still a great concert and deserves to be issued. The problem is with all this kind of releases, it’s geared towards the public in general and not die hard Beatles fans. They have to look at what well sell to the mass market and not just a small percentage of Beatles fans. It’s all about the money!!

I just preordered from Amazon UK as it is 31 dollars cheaper than ordering domestically. Does anyone know if the DVD will be region coded? Are they usually? Also, why is Bangladesh not included? Is that going to be remastered again?
I tried to check the price on the Harrison website but it redirects to amazon.com. I got it for 65.84 (GBP) including shipping at amazon UK.
If you mean the album, it was excluded because Columbia Records own part of the rights (due to the appearance of Bob Dylan).

Ahh, thanks. I guess I’ll need to buy the 2005 remaster.

There’s now a whole page on George’s website for the set, with a video promo and a whole lot of information.
I’m excited for it personally, even though I’ve got two of the albums already. Oh well, the bonus tracks, book, and DVD(s?) should make up for that.
If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself?

I’d mentioned the trailer on the official GH website on Page One of this thread.
I’ve got all of the albums on vinyl and all on CD except for ET, DH, WW and ES so it’ll be good to finally retire my vinyl copies.

I have to admit to being hugely disappointed by the ambition of this and the Dark Horse box. They both seem like stepping stones to fully expanded versions of the albums.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about having them remastered and all available again. It’s just, despite the slow progress of Paul’s archive collection, at least there’s little disappointment in the additional material added. Whereas as “bonus” material on these is miserly at best, includes weird choices (apart from the song dating from the era, what the hell is the 1992 recording – with later overdubs – of This Guitar doing on a set that is meant to end in 1975?), and there are legally released tracks absent.
I’d be more impressed if between the two sets they collected everything that has been legally available (excluding things like Concert for Bangla-Desh and the Wilburys, which aren’t strictly solo George releases) but they don’t.
Fact is though, there’s every chance we will see fully expanded versions of all the albums – adding at least a disc of outtakes, alternate takes, and demos – and with the time already taken, I don’t see why they couldn’t have done the job properly to begin with.
Instead, we get pretty straightforward remasters of the originals, and the Harrison estate get to cash in again when they bother to get around to putting out properly expanded versions of the albums.
Far from what it could be!

Really?
I can’t see them relesasing these albums again although I’m hoping that a set of prevously unreleased material will be made available in the next few months.
I think these box sets (I have the DH one and have pre-ordered the new one) are a taster to see how much of a market there is for George’s music.

@johnnymain Totally!
We see all sorts of artists who have much lower sales figures than George having Deluxe versions of their albums released. So long as there is interest in The Beatles, there will be interest in their solo work.
You get close to saying it yourself – “…a taster to see how much of a market there is for George’s music.” What happens when they find there is reasonable market? Do they decide not to follow it up?
For instance, anybody who has the Beware of ABKCO bootleg knows the 2001 remaster of All Things Must Pass could have been so much better – and that’s the version used here.
I’m sorry, but in this day and age, two or three additional tracks is a huge disappointment.

So these albums haven’t been remastered again? What is the source for the claim that ATMP is the 2001 version, other than the tracklisting being the same? The tracks could still be remastered.

Once again, it’s all about the money. There is a ton of Harrison songs that will be released in the future but they will space it out so they can make the most profit. This always reminds me of Greatest Hits Albums where they put one or two new songs on a compilation album so if you have all the artists albums, you need to purchase this hits album to get the new songs.
Fortunately with sources such as iTunes, you can now download the new songs and not purchase the whole album. Also remember there was the Vol. 1 of the ‘Early Takes’ album so I’m sure there will be more demos and alternate takes coming out in the future. I still have hope that the ’74 and ’91 concerts will come out complete!

@Expert Textpert I didn’t mean to suggest that ATMP hasn’t been remastered this time around. I have no knowledge one way or the other. When I commented about that being the version used in this box I was referring merely to the tracklisting. Though it wouldn’t surprise me, as George’s last major work on his catalogue, if very little work had been done on it.

I hope there has been work on it. I hope they return it to the Spectorized version.

I couln’t agree more!
I also wish they’d do something, anything to bring out the best from “Dark Horse “, especially “Simply Shady” and “So Sad”. But I already know it’s nearly impossible, because George worked very little on the instrumentation (1 session I read) and then added the voice. I wonder if there are any demos to pick from, probably not. I’m very angry, because, put it as you like, “Dark Horse ” and “Extra Texture ” still belong to his major phase. He should’ve made the best of them!
