Why´s this on here? What´s there to discuss?
Couldn't agree more. This was also posted as "Video George Harrison garging" and I made just that point. Then they deleted the video making it look like mine was the first comment in the thread and I was reacting to nothing. I, for one, don't mind seeing clips pointed out that I may or may not have seen. This is one I have seen. But if you're going to open it as a TOPIC there has to be something about it worth discussion. Mmm. George gargling. Backstage 1974 Dark Horse tour. And… what else? If you have a Beatles-related video you think we might like, go to, say, "All Together Now", open a thread called something like – I don't think there's one yet – "Interesting Beatles (group/solo) footage", and then watch it fill with people's favourite clips. Don't just open a thread that can do nothing more than show a video because there's nothing more to be said about it.

OfflineWe could debate and discuss the benefits of gargling and, on a slight tangent, mouthwash. Do you use it? If so do you gargle or swirl it around youre mouth? Do you brush first and then mouthwash or mouthwash followed by brushing (i was told by a dental worker that you should use the mouthwash first as there is more calcium in the toothpaste and so if you gargle (or swirl) after brushing then you lose the some of calcium)?
Did any other Beatles use some kind of throat treatment? Do we have video? Has any of George's gargled concoction in the above video come up for auction?
The questions and issues available to talk about are endless.

OfflineMost of which would be off topic since this is meant to be about George Harrison gargling, not whether I do or not. (I do, twice daily!) The apple pics are interesting though, take it they're from well before they thought up a record label? See, straightaway, I'm off topic!

OfflineDo not take it that way, Beatlepedia. My question, along with others, is whether this clip is worth a dedicated thread for its discussion. I also suggested the idea of creating a thread for clips that people find interesting, which I am sure would get lots of positive reactions. I might even go ahead and do it myself.

John gargled with milk before singing Twist and Shout. There must be more stories of the beatles gargling before shows.
Now that's something I didn't know… can milk really help someone with colds sing?
"When I was a robber *Piano Chord* in Boston Place"
"Let's hope this turns out pretty darn good huh"
"Pete may be the best, but Ringo is the star"
Paul:"Don't be nervous John"
John:"I 'm not"

That is kinda interesting
Milk soothes the throat for a time taking away the soreness and roughness resulting in being able to speak. Singing would probably lessen the time of effect which would account for John being able to battle through Take 1 but come Take 2 was completely gone – especially considering the song and the way John belted it out.
I've always found it interesting that when John got ill later in '63 the other 3 carried on with Paul and George rearranging the vocals for the eving show.
Ringo got ill and they got another drummer in (Jimmy Nicol).
George got ill and they did the rehearsals for Ed Sullivan with Neil in his place, thankfully he was able to do the show later that night but i do wonder what would have happened if he hadnt recovered.
Paul got ill in '63 and the show that night was cancelled. Was the bass more irreplacable with the sound impossible to replicate sufficiently?
