Brainwashed album artwork - George Harrison

Recorded: 1988-2002
Producers: George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison

Released: 19 November 2002

Jeff Lynne: “His life was in those final songs, the things he got up to each day, like riding down the River Thames. Lots of very personal stuff. Some of them are really good. We gradually just filled them in. It was just about mixing them and making them sound like George would like them. You just had to go with your gut feeling. I felt so bad for Dhani having to do that, after his dad had just passed on, but he really wanted to do it. He’s a good lad, Dhani. It was joyful when it sounded great – ‘Well done, George, nice one!’ – but such a shame he wasn’t there to hear it with us.”

Has anyone heard this great album by Mr. George Harrison ? It was the last thing he ever released, actually it was released a year after he died, but it’s absolutely fantastic. He just sounds so…content and happy. The album just makes me smile thinking of George and how great of a person he was and his legacy that continues to carry on. Anyway I just wanted to know if anyone else has any thoughts on this album because I can’t stop listening to it. Here’s a link to one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..GyvO522O-4

Yep Brainwashed is great. I like P2 Vatican Blues (Last Saturday Night). It’s kinda catchy….and shows George has a lighter (less preachy) side to his religious-ness.

Bringing you the best and worst of The Beatles, since 2007.

A spectacular album. In my humble opinion, George's best, right after All Things Must Pass , of course. a-hard-days-night-george-6

I'd heard that Jeff Lynne did his best to ruin it. Is it actually very good, then?

I'd quite like another George album. I have All Things Must Pass . Which should I go for? I was thinking of just getting his greatest hits off iTunes or a similar service.

I told her I didn’t

Cloud Nine or Living In The Material World . Actually, Cloud Nine . Cloud Nine is really enjoyable, with tunes like Devil’s Radio, When We Was Fab, and of course, the hit “Got My Mind Set On You”. You will love it.

One of George's best. Jeff Lynne and his son Dhani finished the album but George's spirit and interpretation of the songs is still intact.

It's one of the few George cd's are library has but I've been too hesitant to pick it up yet. Maybe it's because George never actually finished it that freaks me out slightly, but I don't know. I know it was finished by very talented people, but I just haven't thought of really checking it out and listening to it.

George knew he'd never see the album released so he left instructions on how he wanted it finished. Dhani says Stuck Inside A Cloud was his favourite from all of the songs on it  and if you listen to the lyrics you'll see why; they are very, very sad in places……

I don't think it was George's best by a long stretch. Cloud 9 in superb, but as I've said on here before, Living In The Material World is an absolute cracker.

I’m glad that Jeff Lynne didn’t make this basically an ELO album, as he did with elements of others albums (cough* Full Moon Fever*cough). I picked this up for $4 when I was in the US on Thursday. I’ve given a listen, and I enjoy it a lot.

While I've heard Brainwashed a little (and agree that it's very good!), I must admit I'm pretty unfamiliar with most of George's career… Could anyone give me a good album to start on? I only have a best of thing and All Things Must Pass . What's next?

Also, Mr. Sun, I love finding cheap CD's or Records. There's a market I go to here in Melbourne where you can get unbelievably cheap (and good quality) stuff… Arrgh, it's heaven!

I'd go with Living In The Material World or Somewhere in England.

I really like the George Harrison album. This was recorded during one of his most positive periods and if filled with his love for Olivia.
