  1. Scroll up the page and near the top you will see a row of 5 buttons on the right hand side of the screen starting with "Members", click on the one that says "Profile" (see image above).
  2. On the newly opened page you will see a menu down the left hand side of the page with "overview" at the top, go down the list and click on "Edit Avatar".
  3. You now have the option to either upload your avatar from a file on your computer thru "Upload an Avatar" (click browse if you wish to do so, locate the pic or gif on your computer, select open, then "upload avatar") or if from online enter the url in the box below "Select Remote Avatar" and then "save Remote avatar".

:(  I been searchin'… for 2 days and I can't find out how to change settings about emails.  For every post added to a topic I am subscribed to, I get an email for it.  I'd love to turn that off.  Where did I miss the option??  Thank you.

As far as i am aware you can't (someone else (@Joe, @Ahhh Girl) might know otherwise).

I'd suggest changing to "watch" the topics instead. The watch box up the top will display a number when any posts are submitted in the threads you are watching but you won't receive email notification – see here for further details.

@Crinsk Sorry you're being plagued by emails. That's not the intention (although they're automated and opt-in, so nobody should be receiving them against their will).

Check out the link that MMM posted. As he said, watching a topic might be more helpful if you don't want to drown in emails.

Smileys

smileys-2.JPG

As with many other forums it is possible to include smileys (bitesize images used to represent or indicate different themes of a comment or whole post) in your posts, however the ones on this forum come with a neat twist – they are in the guise of the four Beatles and other related images (Granny Smith apple, Blue Meanie, various 5th Beatles (e.g. Brian Epstein, Mal Evans, Stuart Sutcliffe)).

To add them to your posts is quick and simple.

  1. Click on the 'smiley' button immediately below the text reply box next to the 'options' button* (see image above)
  2. In the box that appears on your screen click on the smiley(s) you want to include and it/they will automatically appear in your post.

*in PM's there is no 'options' button, the 'smiley' button is instead beside 'attachments'.

Here is how to put links in signature

1. You go to your signature page in your profile

2. Put in this code for links

<a href="http://www.beatlesbible.com/fo…..d/page-111/">here</a>

 The Bold is the url

The Italic is what you want displayed

3. change the Url part and the display part to what you want it to be

4. save

Posting Options (Text Editor)

posting-options-1.JPG
It is possible to alter the settings of the text editor (see image above) when posting - the 'HTML – QuickTags' editor is thought to be more suitable for mobile devices (please note that the automatic mentioning fuction ('@') is currently not working with this setting, to use this function you have to remember the intended recipients username)
The steps to change or simply view the posting option settings are as follows:
profile-1.JPG

  1. Click on the 'profile' button (located near the top of each forum page – see image directly above)
  2. From the horizontal tab menu click on 'Options' (see top image).
  3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen click on 'Edit Posting Options' (see top image).

An easier way might be to write something in a regular forum post (but don't submit it). When you've added the links, style etc, click the <> button in the text editor, then copy the bit of markup you want for your signature. Depends how familiar you are with html.

Aha, so I selected the Digest for the day's posts.  I'll see what happens.  If that's still bulky, I'll try Watching.  Thanks @meanmistermustard  do all you experienced forum people Watch or get Digests?

Nonetheless, I am enjoying all of this so far.  Thank you! heart

@Crinsk, can you let me know how the digest option operates but in the 'suggestions for improving the site' thread. Trying to keep this thread free from heavy discussion. Thank you.apple01
