Smileys

smileys-2.JPGImage Enlarger

As with many other forums it is possible to include smileys (bitesize images used to represent or indicate different themes of a comment or whole post) in your posts, however the ones on this forum come with a neat twist - they are in the guise of the four Beatles and other related images (Granny Smith apple, Blue Meanie, various 5th Beatles (e.g. Brian Epstein, Mal Evans, Stuart Sutcliffe)).

To add them to your posts is quick and simple.

  1. Click on the 'smiley' button immediately below the text reply box next to the 'options' button* (see image above)
  2. In the box that appears on your screen click on the smiley(s) you want to include and it/they will automatically appear in your post.

*in PM's there is no 'options' button, the 'smiley' button is instead beside 'attachments'.

Posting Options (Text Editor)

posting-options-1.JPGImage Enlarger
It is possible to alter the settings of the text editor (see image above) when posting - the 'HTML - QuickTags' editor is thought to be more suitable for mobile devices (please note that the automatic mentioning fuction ('@') is currently not working with this setting, to use this function you have to remember the intended recipients username)
The steps to change or simply view the posting option settings are as follows:
profile-1.JPGImage Enlarger

  1. Click on the 'profile' button (located near the top of each forum page - see image directly above)
  2. From the horizontal tab menu click on 'Options' (see top image).
  3. In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen click on 'Edit Posting Options' (see top image).

An easier way might be to write something in a regular forum post (but don't submit it). When you've added the links, style etc, click the <> button in the text editor, then copy the bit of markup you want for your signature. Depends how familiar you are with html.

@Crinsk, can you let me know how the digest option operates but in the 'suggestions for improving the site' thread. Trying to keep this thread free from heavy discussion. Thank you.apple01

How to edit your profile

Step one

In order to edit your profile, you must click the Profile button that the arrow is pointing too. Be careful not to hit the Log Out button.

Hlep-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Step 2

When you click the profile button, you should see this page which shows an overview of your account which includes your user name,

how long you have been a member

The last time you logged into the site

The amount of posts you made

And the time zone you set your account too (Mine is censored yours should have a Location then a local time)

To edit your profile click the Edit Profile button that the black arrow is pointing to

Hlep-2.jpgImage Enlarger

Step 3

This is the place where you can edit your profile. There are certain things you can change

The first option is your log in name which you can not change
The second option that the black arrow is pointing to is your display name. Your display name is the name that other users see you as. You can change that whenever you want though I recommend not changing it a lot as if you change your display name too much you will confuse some of the other users

The third and fourth options that the purple arrow are where you can put your first and last name if you want. You don't have to have any profile options with colored arrows filled.

The fifth option with the green arrow is you website. If you own a website or have a site you like and want to promote then you can put it there.

The sixth option with the blue arrow is where you put your location. You don't need to put your real location there if you don't want to. A lot of people will put a Beatle related location so you can be creative with this.

The seventh option with the red arrow is the short bio where you can type out a short bio that can be about anything.

The eight and last option with the orange arrow is where you can pick your birthday. I censored my birthday but normally it would appear as a date. If you put a birthday in your profile then when you birthday comes around, It will appear at the bottom of the page with other members birthdays and other users will be able to wish you a happy birthday on the birthday thread

Once you are done editing your profile, you click the update profile button and wait for the check mark that tells you that your profile is edited

ahdn_paul_06 The groups actually are, The Beatles, The Beatles Bible and, Non-Beatles Discussion. Inside the groups are 34 Forums which are the categories for posting. I think the groups are only accessible by the admins.

Here is how to uses spoilers

Edit: The information about the groups is wrong. I will put the group information below

ahdn_paul_06 That is called a signature (Or Zignature) and here is how you put one

Step one

Go into your profile. If you are unsure how to get into your profile, then follow step one of this

Step two

In your profile, click the Edit Signature button that the black arrow is pointing too.

Sig-Help-2.jpgImage Enlarger

Step 3

When you click that link you should be on a page with a text box that the black arrow is pointing too. Just type what you want your signature to be in that box. Once you are done typing out your signature, just click the update signature button.

Sig-Help-3.jpgImage Enlarger

If that all worked out you should see your signature below your post like this (in the black circle)

How to edit your global options (And become a Ninja poster)

Step one

Go into your profile. If you are unsure how to do that, then follow the first step of this post

Step two

In your profile there are several tabs on top of the overview box. Click on the options tab to the immediate right of the profile tab that the black arrow is pointing to

Helppppppppppppppppp-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Step Three

Now you are at the global options area and you can change several things

If something is active the circle will be green if it isn't active then the circle next to the option will be grey

The first option that the black arrow is pointing to allows you to hide your online status from other users. Mine is active right now so it is green

The second option that the red arrow is pointing to syncs your forum name with your Wordpress display names

The third option that the green arrow is pointing to is the not get mentions notifications option so people can still mention you but you won't get a notification at the top of your screen

The fourth option that the blue arrow is pointing to lets you choose to get emails when people private message you. I recommend not having it on if you frequently get a lot of private messages.

The final option that the purple arrow is pointing to allows you to not get any private messages.

To submit changes to your global options, click on the Update Global Options button that the orange arrow is pointing to and wait for the check mark that tells you that your global options are edited
