In case anyone else wants their account closed in future, I’d rather not do it because it makes prior conversations very disjointed and confusing. If you’re determined to go I’d rather you just logged out then vanished into the ether.

However there are always exceptions. Contact him, explain your circumstances and situation and see what happens. He is very easy to communicate with and very understanding. Whatever happens all the best for the future.

Thank you, I actually read that post a while back but forgot I did, however if I DID log out and just disappear, my old name would still show up if you typed it in, (which I use for a lot of things) and I’d rather people weren’t aware of my obsession with The Beatles(only a small part of the reason I’m going, not the main one) and if there were a way of the forum not coming up with my old name and rather my new name on the first page of Google, I’d take that instead, but that’s not the case unfortunately :/

Edit: Also, I’m aware that this isn’t the only forum that doesn’t let you delete your account but this is the only one I’m with lol so the other ones don’t matter
But either way, even though other forums don’t let you I still think it’s unfair, as it’s the equivalent of taking a photo on Facebook and ending up not liking it, yet being denied the option to delete it so that the world can still see it

@TheBeatlesJohn, no idea if its any use but you can change your username in your profile which might be a stopgap or compromise.

Why is this the case? There are a lot of threads that can be easily found that I wouldn’t like to be, even with photos of me up on them

Also, I already have changed my name, this is my new one :p but the old one comes up with the forum whenever it’s typed into Google

Edit: Also(correct me if I’m wrong please), there isn’t even an option to see all of my posts so that I can edit them

My understanding is that if your account is deleted everything you have posted on the forum will be deleted. If folk have quoted your post in either part of full they will remain as they are attributed to that other user, thats certainly how we have some of paulbass’s posts on the forum even tho he deleted them himself.

I respect this, but I don’t understand the ‘not being able to delete a thread because of other peoples’ posts on it’ thing

I mean, if the owner of the thread hadn’t made the thread in the first place, there wouldn’t be any thread to comment ON, so what would it matter?

Also, am I able to change my email? Not sure if this holds any relevance to forums but I know it does for organisations that according to the data protection act, information can’t be kept from the company about the user if it’s no longer necessary, and since I wouldn’t be using the forum anymore it wouldn’t be necessary
