So, I love riddles, and I’m hoping some of you do, too. What are some good riddles you know? Please post them! (Try to answer some, too!)

Here’s one to start us off:

Until I am measured,

I am not known.

Yet how you miss me

When I have flown!

What am I?

P.S. Also, if you know any other brainteasers that aren’t quite riddles, feel free to post them, too!

He who makes me doesn’t want me.
He who buys me doesn’t need me.
He who uses me doesn’t care.
    What am I?

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Here’s a good riddle that only works if spoken, not read, so say it to your friends:

One knight (people will think you’re saying night), a king, and a queen get on a bus. There’s no one else on the bus except the bus driver. After 15 minutes, without picking up or dropping off any more passengers, the bus stops, and everyone but the bus driver gets off, yet three people get off. How is this possible?

Because “knight” sounds like “night,” people will think the king and the queen got on a bus at night. At first, they won’t realize that a knight, a king, and a queen were on the bus.

:)

Here’s a tricky one:

A traveller comes to a fork in the road which leads to two villages. In one village the people always tell lies, and in the other village the people always tell the truth. The traveller needs to conduct business in the village where everyone tells the truth. A man from one of the villages is standing in the middle of the fork, but there is no indication of which village he is from. The traveller approaches the man and asks him one question. From the villager’s answer, he knows which road to follow. What did the traveller ask?

How about this:

You’re in a cement room with no windows or doors. (The ceiling, floor, and walls are all made of cement.) The only thing you have is a mirror and a piece of wood. How do you get out?

This is a bit of a play on words and it would not work in real life, just so you know.

Is this one of those where no doors and windows mean that there are gaps where they would be and you just walk out? If not how did you get in?

@meanmistermustard:

There are no gaps and the room was built around you. They put part of the floor down, and then they made you stand on that part while they put the other part down.

This is an easier one:

Mary’s father has 4 children; three are named Nana, Nene, and Nini. What is is the 4th child’s name?

P. S. Sorry to swamp you with all of these riddles; I wanted to post them before I forgot them.

I’d have said Nono simply because of Nana, Nene and Nini. I watch way too much Only Connect.

Its the hardest quiz ive ever seen in my life. You have to make connections from seemingly unrelated people, objects, numbers, whatever. Most of the time i have no clue to the answer but it gives a very smug feeling when i do.

You can play the Only Connect wall online, actually you may have to be in the UK to do so.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programme…..tures/quiz

I tried Only Connect. The first wall was “fiendishly difficult,” as it says on the website. After my three minutes ran out, I tried another wall and I actually got one group correct because it was Sonic the Hedgehog characters and I used to be a huge fan of those games and stuff, but I was confused at first because there seemed to be five characters, but one actually belonged to the group _______ boom, and it was Sonic, so you can see why I was confused.

Hey… I bet I could use an Only Connect wall as a riddle on this thread! Or would that have copyright problems?

Here’s the answer to the riddle. If you still want to try to figure it out, don’t read any more of this post.

You look into the mirror and see what you saw. You take the saw and cut the piece of wood in half. Two halves make a whole, so you put the halves together, put the whole on the wall, and climb through the hole.

:)

I warned you it would be a play on words. :)

Here’s another answer for you. I don’t intend to encourage giving up, but in case you have no idea, or you’re bored and you want to know the answer and move on with your life, I’ll post it here.

He asked, “Which village is yours?” If the villager lied, he’d point to the truthful village because it wouldn’t be his village. If the villager told the truth, he’d still point to the truthful village because it would be his village.
